terminals on the light switch & dimmer

I'm doing the wiring on my 3B and I am not sure what wire goes with what terminal on the light switch and floor dimmer switch. I searched the 3B web page & the bulletin board for a diagram identifying the terminals but could not find one. All replies are greatly appreciated.

jpw,
I also used the wiring diagram to figure out the connections. However, I did have some deteriorated wires already partially connected to help orient myself. The hi/low beam was not connected. However, the headlight dimmer switch shouldn’t matter. One terminal you have the low beam circuit. The other circuit gets the high beam and the tell tale light on the instrument panel. Follow this link to see info from the CJ2A page (that also has some links for additional information).

From the SM, there were two images to go with the paragraph.

To me, I think when providing multiple images, the document should use the same numbering and labeling for both to note any differences. Oh well. It's still doable. I think it is obvious that the power should come in the back (from ammeter) and then branches out on the other terminals depending on whether you pull to the first notch or all the way out to the second notch.

You could bench test with an ohmmeter or use a volt meter if you hook up to the battery. This ohm meter test will also work with the dimmer switch in case you aren’t sure which terminal is hot from both high and low beam positions.

As suggested by the text, the parking lights were turned off when you pulled to the second notch for the headlights.

Here is a common aftermarket switch and the type I installed recently.

Your floor dimmer may be different, but mine has three contact points. The center is the power supply from the headlight switch, position D. The bottom pin is the highbeam wire and dash highbeam indicator light. The top pin is for the low beams. Hope this helps along with the other guys info and pics.

I saved it as soon as I found it last year. I knew it would come in handy at some point. I ve had to refer to it a couple of times too.

A 50 cal M2HB??

Hmmm, interesting add-on. Does it help with traffic control during your commute?

Perhaps it removes the need for a tree stand when hunting...
