I feel like this has been asked before, but I couldn't get any results off google... In fact I thought that there used to be a registry, oh well.

What is the current estimate for existing serviceable 3Bs in the US? thousands; tens of thousands?

This was last up dated in 2009, not sure what the figures are now.
But many new jeep finds are reported daily on the CJ-3B Page & the CJ-3B Bulletin Board.

So adding those numbers is 802, plus any outside the US.

That link had a link to the list I was trying to find, thanks! http://www.film.queensu.ca/cj3b/SerialNos/...lNosEngine.html

I have collected about 150 new listings to add, since I last updated the CJ-3B Database a couple of years ago. I ran into problems with the software, and asked here on the BB whether it was worth trying to keep the Database going. The consensus seemed to be that it wasn't used very much. So I guess I will just update the list at http://www.film.queensu.ca/cj3b/SerialNos/...lNosEngine.html

The main things not included on that list are: Jeeps without serial numbers, non-Willys Jeeps, and contact information for the owners.

I don't include e-mail addresses on the Owners pages of the website, because they go out of date and can attract spam. So it's nice to be able to say at the bottom of those pages that you can contact the owner by going to the Database. But the last time I checked, many of the addresses in the Database were out of date too.

The trend these days is to have comments forms at the bottom of pages, but personally I feel those are more trouble than they're worth. They attract spam, and I would rather encourage comments all in one place, here on the BB.

Opinions welcome.

Derek,
I believe everyone here would like to see the CJ-3B Surviving Serial Number List being maintained.
We're not too concerned about keeping the owner information fully updated.
Owners can change frequently and so that seems to be a never ending process.
I'll go ahead and state it clearly...
The Surviving Serial Number List is one of the most valuable gems about the CJ-3B Page.
It gives every 3B owner a place to see exactly where their 3B fits into the production lineup.
The list helps us determine if their engines are original or else replaced.
The list helps us to determine overseas distribution trends.
The list helps us see the yearly production quantities.
In some cases we see 3B's that were assembled one in front of the other.
Currently building my final F-134 powered 3B .

All of your points are valid and good.
Given how this forum is used, a simple list is good enough. You can use your web browser's "Find" function to look for particular names, etc. in the big list.
Keeping personal info hidden from lurkers is mandatory these days so your handling of email addresses and such is the right thing to do.

I had sent my info over a year ago, March 11, and it still isnt showing up.

1953 CJ-3B with the serial number 453-GB2 13718. The engine number is 4J13999B2.

I live in Missouri.

This Jeep is 100% factory original, albeit very rusty and worn, but with less than 30k miles on it.

It would be interesting to know how many exist in the U.S. But, I would also like to know how many exist in South America. In my few trips to Colombia, I see 3B's almost every day being drive down the road. I can go months here in the U.S. without seeing one. Got a feeling I am never going to know the answer to this however. :-)

Very timely that you bring this up now, Jared. I finally took the CJ-3B Database offline a couple of weeks ago, and am trying to get all the new listings added to the Serial Number List by the end of the year. I have about 150 e-mails saved with new listings from the past 3 years, and am working backwards (there are 11 to go now before I get to you, Jared.)

Impossible to know how many 3B's are still around in total. I often run across Jeeps that are on the road, going to the Reunions, on the web, etc. which have never been submitted for my list, so there must also be many more still in barns, etc. And I wouldn't be surprised if there were as many in Colombia as there are in the U.S. because there, as in many parts of the world, the CJ-3B is the most common Jeep, whereas in North America we are definitely the minority.

Yep. I'm going to guess there are 10 to 20 still in circulation for every one included in Derek's list.

The list of Surviving CJ-3B Jeeps is pretty much up to date now, with over 100 new entries, so I put a link to it on the home page. (And yes, I'm sorry The CJ3B Page is down at the moment. Why does this always happen on the weekend when I'm out of town and can't reboot the server? The good news is I have the approval to buy a new server.)

I have also sprinkled a few pictures through the list of serial numbers, to make it easier to keep track of where you are when you're browsing the list.

I have really enjoyed having Joe Gillam's MP photo on the home page during January. There will be a new cover photo for next weekend, of a pretty unusual special-purpose Jeep.
