It's certainly not a factory installation. Probably an aftermarket washer system.

Sorry about that statement.
I have no references concerning military specsifications.

No problem oldtime, you are still the "go to guy" for jeep info ;)
How do we find out if this was a "64" factory option, or that this item was used only in the CJ-3Bs built under the Federal Contract that year?

Hi everyone.
I'm sure that mine, shown here was a factory installed option.
Posted Image
To me, seeing pictures of Craig Carlile's 64 validates that.
Everything was still there on mine except for the vinyl bag under the hood.
For that,
I bought a repro washer bag with the check valve in it off of ebay.
I hung it on the passenger fender behind the voltage regulator.
I can take a picture of it tomorrow if anyone would like to see it.
As for the pump in the dash, mine was corroded to the point that I couldn't push the plunger in :( But after some light heat and Kroil I was able to free it up without damaging the diaphram inside, it works great now :)

div4gold, I see that your pump knob might be missing it's rubber cover.

I'd like to see the picture of the repo bag. So the knob had a rubber cover? Can you take a closeup of that? Thanks Howard

div4gold,

If you decide to put a rubber cover on the plunger, I have an idea. On the M38A1 (maybe the M38 or any of the CJ floor-actuated starter motors), the starter rod plunger has a rubber cover about that size. You can still get them NOS, that's how I got mine. If you are interested, get me a diameter measurement on the plunger and I'll check mine. Looks about the right size though it may be slightly convex.

Hey Red, the plunger is 1 1/4 inch diameter. Where are you finding your NOS parts at? Thanks Howard

That's a find. Thanks
I can't see in the ebay picture if it has the 3 way valve with it or not. Another note: the directions show the pump plunger mounted on the floor. That's different.

Checking on the w/w pump again today and it seems to work. Now all I need is the bag/reservoir with the 3 way valve.

Howard, I apologize for not posting a picture yet.
My daughter has borrowed the cord that connects the camera to the computer.

I got a washer bag and 3 way valve/cap pickup on ebay. I mounted it in about the only location that seemed right to me. It works :)

That kit while still a good score didn't have the 3 way valve/pickup tube with it. It looks like the kit had 2 diaphragm pumps with it. The directions with the kit showed the pump plunger mounted on the floor.

The bag and it's location that you have chosen looks really good Howard.
If you still want a close up of the rubber cover over the knob, I can now send a picture or any other pictures. I had to order a new cord for the camera, it finally came in the mail today.

Can't you take the SD card out of your camera and insert it in your computer? That's how mine works I download directly from the SD card. Will the rubber cover fit on that washer plunger? I'd like to see any pictures of it you may have anyway. Where are you finding your NOS parts at? That would be a big + also :) Thanks Howard

I'm embarassed to admit that I didn't know that my computer had a place to plug in the camera sd card.
I will take a few pictures and post this evening.
As for NOS parts, there is no particular "go to" place.
I have found most of my NOS jeep parts on ebay.
Another good place to constantly watch for used but good parts is
