There was a drivers side heater for the 2a available but I don't think that's it, looks way too big for that. |

I've seen many different heaters in old CJs but never one like that. |

Going to guess that is a a 40's or early 50's vintage truck heater, at least some of which worked very well. |

I'm not specifically sure of the manufacturer's name, but similar looking aftermarket heaters made back in the late 40's and through at least the mid 50's had a nameplate of cast pot-metal in chromed script titled ARVIN fastened in the same area on the heater that you have pictured. My dad installed a new one of these in our '52 Plymouth Cambridge, and if I remember correctly, he purchased it from a local Western Auto store. |

Thanks ,I should have mentioned that it is mounted on the passenger side of fire wall alittle below the vin tag and it looks like a P.O. had it installed or did the job himself. Did all jeeps come with a heater or was that an option? Steve |

Sorry to sound nostalgic, but the reference to Western Auto brings back lots of great memories. As a kid I loved going in there and looking at all the cool stuff they had. Now a days I get lost, my watch just stops, when I'm in Northern Tool, Harbor Freight, Home Depot, and Ace Hardware. Merry Christmas and Happy New Year. John J 1958 CJ3B |

Some Jeep models were standard with a heater. A heater was optional equipment for all CJ-3B's. |
