St Louis.
I expect tonights low to be around 5* F.
Coldest night so far this season.
No snow in sight, still into drought mode.

Plan to burn a couple Osage Orange logs tonight.
Gotta be careful with those logs because they'll make the whole cast iron box stove glow a bright orange.

1962 CJ-3B sits out all night.
The starter spins slow in the morning but it starts right up with 2 pumps and 3/4 choke.
Axle oil gets so thick it won't roll down a slight hill.

Yep, thats the Georgetown - just west of Louisville, KY on I-64.
They just revised or low tonight to "0".

I have Lucy tucked away in the barn for the winter. I was just up there feeding the horses and walked over, pulled the choke, pumped the gas and hit the key, She moned, turned over a couple of times, then fired off! Shes a good ol girl! :D

Looks like a lot of other folks are getting cold weather like we've been having in Boise. Been single digits (4 degrees this morning) in the mornings for about two weeks. We had snow the week before last and some of the main roads around town are still rutted with packed snow and ice. I have never seen snow lay this long here in the valley. Highs in the day have been about 25 in the sun. Can't get on the roof to get Christmas lights down...... The old jeep doesn't take much to start, even though it sits outside all night.

Here's for you guys who have 70 degrees :D

Ratchet,
I grew up in Louisville. Moved away for college in the mid 80s after working construction there for several years after high school. I have good friends in Lanesville. I purchased my daily driver, and F150, from a guy there in Georgetown.
Beautiful area you're in and usually a couple of degrees colder than here.

Bob in NC,
That PM you sent me was right on.
Last night I burned one Black Locust and one Osage Orange.
Both were 14" diameter logs that had been split down the middle.
My vintage box stove will handle a full 10" diameter round at 30" long.

I finally got me a different chain saw last fall.
Been running the same ole 031 ever since the 1970's.
I took apart 2 old 028's and made a real nice 028 Super with all German made magnesium parts.

Anyway back to jeep...
Took a little extra cranking and full choke to get the 3B started this morning.
Starter was turning pretty slow.
They normally need a boost if it gets down to 5 below.

PS. you ever burn a big chunk of pitch pine ?
Danger ! Warning Will Robinson !

And Now for the Canadian Report!
Here in central Nova Scotia , temp last night was -14 Celcuis and snow moved in. Right now at noon , -8.5 C and snowing. Schools are closed as the wind is expected to pick upthis afternoon and make it really cold.
Three hundred miles away in northern New Brunswick near the QUebec border it hit -32 last night.
I'll add that this article has been helpful as we will be driving down the eastern seaboard next week via I95 and the inland passage of I81 and i64,avoids NYNY and the other large cities to FLA and have been examing the weather forecasts online but it hasn't been easy to ascertain what the weather and snow conditions have been like.
Only true question where does the cold weather and snow slipeery stuff stop?, NC or SC or Waynesboro VA? <_<
