Well about the time I got into restoring my 3b I also got outta dirtbikes, I figured one expense hobby was enough. Well the urge to get back finally overtook me last week and I picked up another bike. I always prefered the big bore stuff so I found me an '05 XR650L. My last two bikes were a Yamaha YZ450 and a Husky 610SM. I guess since my CJ is basically done I can leap once more into the money pit of motorcycles. Haha

Wow My brother got into MX racing years ago, and now he's racing vintage MX bikes. He says the dirt is alot harder now and it takes him longer to recover after a days ride. Be safe and have a blast!!! |

Back in the day I used to haul my 1979 PE 250. I could take off the enduro's front tire and load it in my CJ-2A with the passenger seat removed. I could even close the Jeeps doors and snap shut the rear windows. That combination made for some extremely adventurous capabilities. I ended up exploring much of Death Valley that way. Those are the kind of memories that last a lifetime. Yes the 2A had its limits but the enduro had very few. For those few who have ever caught up with wild burros you'll know what I mean. |

Wow Goose that's great! What an inspiration to get riding again...:ph43r: I had motorcycles since I was 16, I've always liked 4 stroke single cyl."Thumpers". My 1st bike was a BSA 441 Victor, used to ride a lot on the back trails every weekend. Put my last bike away, a '77 Yamaha XT500 Enduro, when my daughter was born, had to be around....It only had 6,000mi on it. It's sitting under the under the house.....waiting... ?? Next restoration ?? Well with your Willys & the XR650 you can go just about anywhere now!! Enjoy those wild wilderness trails. Jax |

Funny! I had a buddy that used to keep his Harley parked in the living room behind his couch. I always thought that was sooo cool! But then he got married. No more bike.

Thumper who? Yeah Ive been over there as Goosedog since '04 with over 3500 posts now, you could say its been a sickness of sorts...haha. I am fairly new to Hondas again tho, had a '87 XL600r back 15yrs ago, no comparison to this beast! I did the CRF fenders and an X2 headlight, the previous owner did the full FMF pipe, pumper carb and XRR CSS, this thing needs nothing in the HP department. ![]()

great minds think alike,if your 3b or your xr wont get you there you need sturdy boots. |
