 Recently I replaced the oil pump in my barnfind '46 2A using the 'ol skool mechanics book chapter 1 named; "Just go for it, it's not hard." Well needless to say the new pump is in and well the engine won't start. So knowing full well the willys manual is very clear about indexing the pump properly. Did I follow the willys manual- er, ah no. The chapter I followed was out of the "Just go for it" manual in the back of my head. So I thought I had nailed right off and it would fire right up. NOPE NADA NOTHING. Now knowing a redo was coming up I figured I'd now do some research to prevent another embrassment. Well low and behold I found this bit of info over on the 2A page tech section that I thought would be useful to all my 3B buddies too! It is a useful 17 page PDF file to get any Lhead and Fhead running oil pump indexed properly or not! :ph43r: I know in the future I'll redo my pump to correct factory specs, but I'm going to use the flow chart on the link and once again listen to my "Just go for it" brain and get it running. I want to thank the CJ2A page for their knowledge and assistance. Anyway here's the link, y'all may want to keep the PDF file for future use or it may help someone here learn more about our old machines and be comfortable doing their own work. http://www.thecj2apage.com/forums/l134-ign...topic13819.html |
