According to the engineering manifest the Jeep part numbers are A-5219 for Left and A-5220 for Right. All "A" prefixed part numbers have military origin. Specifically meaning those same identicle parts were used during MB production. |

I am concerned that the hooks won't be authentic to the CJ3B build up and might distract from the look of your jeep and might make it appear counterfeit. But hey since it's your jeep you should be able to do with it as you see fit and and I should have refrained from any comment about it but couldn't resist... LOL |

I deserve it. I still regret that statement, and I hope that I haven't lost any of my jeep friends. Sometimes, I get a too purist of an attitude about restoration and preserving history. Dan Walton |

All in fun, Dan. Are they the hooks that the M38s use? Bet they look good on your jeep. |

I don't know of any M38's that used tow hooks, only shackles. The tow hooks were MB radio Jeeps (MZ1and MZ2, MB Navy) and CJV-35 before they were used for CJ3B. |

Having worked on and restored several M38's and M38A1's in my past, none ever had factory issued tow hooks. As Joe F. states, the 38's left the factory with front and rear lifting shackles/rings only, as did the 38A1's. Not that sure however on an M606 (3B). All that said, and once again, it's your jeep, so dress it out as you like it and don't be all that concerned about correctness, unless of course you're showing and competing against other military models for an award/trophy, etc.. |
