All flatfender windshields bolt on them in basically the same spot, so it is pretty normal to have windshields from other models installed by previous owners. DJ windshields are one of several types from the factory. The Surrey (and many DJs) uses a CJ3A windshield. This has square tubing for a frame, an opening vent under the glass, and rubber mounted glass panes that do not open. The "sporty" convertible model used the windshield from a CJ3B which is a shorter windshield with no vent. This gives a lower top and looks more aerodynamic to some. The hardtop equipped models had a permanently attached windshield as part of the top used. Often the hardtops are removed and the windshield and door fairings are left on. These are the jeeps that often had the diagonal cutout behind the door and the flat floor with no "side" to have to lift your foot over getting in, although some were built on standard jeep tubs too. If your friends windshield is in nice shape he should be able to easily find a 2A guy who would buy it or trade for the 3A style one. The inner windshield frames rot out and the curved area of the arms that attach the windshield are also prone to cracking, rot , and bending. The inner is similar to the MB one, and if the panel below the glass has no WIlLLYS embossing it might be from a MB or GPW.. |
