Good, overcoming a problem at a time until they're gone. Glad to see the follow up, thanks for that. There's several good discussions of metering rod inspection and specifications here; I'll dig them out if you think they might help. The hesitation might be overcome by careful tweaking of the throttle jet adjustment. As it gets close to "right" it becomes more sensitive to change in that 1/8 turn may have more effect than 1/4 turn. Of course it may be another problem, but the simple stuff may help. Thats how I ended up, careful tweaks of the throttle needle unti hesitation was gone. It may be a little rich, but thats how it worked out. Also, after careful setting of points and timing, I also tweaked distributor set by adjusting to highest vacuum at idle. Did that before throttle needle tweaking. It also helped. If its an original metering rod it will be stamped with a number on the eye end where it sits on the lifter link. During my trials with carburetor kits, the metering rod included with the kit was not right by specification so I didn't use it. I don't know how the thing might have worked (or not). It just made me suspicious of new kits. Sounds good so far, let us know how it finally works out. |
