I had planned on performing some of the finish work on the tub after completing the metal work. However, I decided to let a pro do it. I ended up with a couple of cans of this http://www.eastwood.com/eastwood-s-2k-aero...rimer-gray.html I've still got some painting of parts to do and I was considering using this on the propeller shafts and the heavy metal plate that protects the underside. Would this be a good primer product to use in those two areas as they are exposed to all the road debris and I'm assuming this is pretty tough primer. Am I correct in that assumption?. Are there places to not use this product? BTW - I do understand the inhalation danger with the product and have purchased the appropriate mask. Thanks, John |

2K epoxy primer is as good as it gets on blasted or bare cleaned steel. On clean metal it is superior to POR 15 and other brands of conversion type coatings. There is nothing superior for use on bare iron or steel. I use Dupont 2K epoxy primer on virtually everything and top coat right away or within 24 hours. I tried a can of 2K epoxy primer (not Eastwood brand) that came in a spray can. I found that the stuff would not spray out the nozzle after the chambers were mixed. I ended up cutting the spray can open then pouring the 2K epoxy mixture into my spray gun. Never have tried the canned variety since . |
