I'm going to buy the paint but some people tell me I need 2 gallons while others said 3/4 is just enough.
In your experience how much is enough if I'm going to apply polyurethane satin finish??

Milton, this may not be the answer you're looking for, but I've painted several jeeps in my past, including the undersides of the tub, fenders, hood and grill, etc. with only a gallon and had some paint left over for touch ups - and I'm nowhere near a professional painter! As I said, that's been in my past and not knowing much about today's paints, perhaps it takes more now.

Larry, I just talked to a friend who has painted his CJ3A and he said he used 3/4 so I think youre right, I just wanted a confirmation from the people of this forum which obviously have more experience.
Ok, a gallon will be then.
Thanks.

I used up exactly 1 full gallon of color coat to paint my 3B including the half cab.
Top and bottom inside and outside.
Note that I painted the W/S frame black as it should be.

I used 2 quarts of primer... sanding in between coats with 1000 grit & then 2 quarts of color inside & out ,,, Make sure you have the right thinner for the paint,,, And I agree with oldtime on the frame should be Black butt I feel the Windshield should be black also... & prim them also,,,Very important to prim gives the color paint something to grab & hold on to....

All of the new civilian 3B's (also 2 and 3 A's) I can remember ever seeing on dealers lots, they all had gloss black painted windshield frames., and of the many I've owned and restored over the years, I always went back with the gloss black for the w/s frames as well as the undercarriage frames.

No harm Hoghead.
Not your fault.
Sometimes the dang words just get in the way.
I suggest we blame it on the elementry school teachers. :D
Your Napa store is probably a lot better than mine.

Got that right Oldtime... It was my elementary school teachers fault. She sit me beside the prettiest little girl in the 2nd grade spelling class & believe me I didn't get any fundamentals to start with on the spelling end of that class,, Prettiest little filly,,, Butt she had an eye for the high side of life,,, She used this ol gear head for her own pleasures & is living Bay side on the Chesapeake Bay with some big lawyer from DC,,,, And Im stuck depending on spell check,,,, :(

Well this friend & I were old drinking buddies I only go in there when I know he's there,,, hes rebuilding a 67 Jeepster & up grading it as he goes,, Fitting a AMC 360 with the turbo 400 & transfer out of a 73 Jeepster,,, His Dad has a FC150 you cant eat off of,,,Plus I'm 6'2'' and 300lbs full beard not to many people give me much guff....
