New to the forum. Have been cruising it for the last several months though while awaiting delivery of my "Free Jeep". My neighbor is giving me his 1955 CJ3B and it should be delivered sometime next week. It is in ROUGH condition to say the least. If is makes it down to Florida from New York in less than 3 pieces it will be a miracle. I will post some pictures when she arrives. My plan is a multi year resto mod of the vehicle but that is to be determined by time and money. Anyway, just thought I would introduce myself and thank everyone for the help in advance. |

Spdodson, Welcome to the CJ-3B Bulletin Board ! Every model and vintage of CJ is unique and the 1955 CJ-3B is certainly no exception. The 1955 vintage happens to be one of my favorites although I have never owned one. As you know later model CJ's tend to be better than early model CJ's. As the CJ's evolved through time (1945 -1985) some of those changes were actually regressive or negative. The 1955 vintage does not include all CJ advances from 1945 - 1985 but more importantly it has none of the negative changes. Example: 1955 vintage includes the improved 2.46 ratio D18 transfer case. Yet this model and vintage still retains the highly desireable full dash panel instrumentation. I like all CJ's yet... IMHO the upgraded 1949 CJ-3A to 1956 CJ-3B are especially desireable having optimum potential when correctly upgraded. The 1955 CJ-3B is the very first CJ to compete directly with a new model of CJ and yet survive for a period of time. Lawerence Wade is our resident expert for the optional stock 1955 CJ-3B. While John Duffer is an expert on the 1955 CJ-3B having extensive Trans - Manufactured modifications. |
