gents;

living on the coast of NC, an older gent who lived down the road a piece told me about a product that really helps stop rust. you simply spray or brush it in on any rusty area and it will practically stop any more rust from growing. you apply it before painting.

anybody know anything better?

If the gentleman is referring to rust converters there are a few on the market. The idea is to wire brush off as much of the rust as you can then brush on the liquid. It starts out creamy but then go's black as a chemical reaction converts the effected area into usable metal - that can be painted.

It ain't no miracle cure some elbow grease is still required, but this is the stuff I used. I worked pretty well.

lawrence;

good evening.

it's in the title. ospho

never heard of kurust. everybody here in rust country uses ospho. down these parts you can leave something out in the humid air one night and the next day it has signs of rust.

the guy who introduced me to this product has passed and he was a metal worker.

I've used a product called "Must for Rust" I bought from my local Ace hardware, it's a rust converter spray that eliminates future rust and chemically changes current rust. Used it to eliminate rust on my frame before painting it.

Er ...yeah sorry Bob. I guess Hammerite hasn't made it to your neck of the woods - well, according to this map anyway.

Consider me duly embarrassed. :rolleyes: :lol:
