I'm the new caretaker of the family '53 3B. The old beast was kept alive and 'kick'en' in any way possible as it performed it's faithful duties on the Eastern Washington farm since 1963. Great Granddad was a clever 'fixer' of all things broke. Well, now it has come to me and my boys to sort it all out. What are the publications and the sources that we can employ as a guide through the under-hood tangle of bailing-wire, plastic zip ties, and Sprite can patches. I want to spend my money on the Willys not on a Library, so I don't want to buy the 'Complete Idiots Guide to...' or "this book has some stuff on the 3B, too". I'll spend it all on a book if that book has it all. So, what do the experts say? Paul- Silverton, OR. |

Paul, first off, you've come to the best place on the I-net to receive most any type help you may seek regarding the "family heirloom". The fella's here can answer might near any question you could throw at them and everyone is friendly. Next, if you think you may have to identify parts at some time or another, you may want to invest in a parts manual, and if you need R&R instructions, you may want to buy a Chilton's manual - both are available on the Net new, but often you can find good used manuals for a fair amount of change. Good luck to you and your boys in keeping that 'ol heirloom up and going! |

Please go to the following and follow all links: http://z4.invisionfree.com/CJ3B_Bulletin_B...?showtopic=2672 Primarily the USM's are invaluable. Of the USM's the SM-1002 R5 dated 1965 is the all around best for a stock standard (non modified) CJ-3B. It has more pages than previous USM's and it contains most but not all of the earlier service information. Secondly I suggest the UPL's. Obtain the one thats closest to your 3B's vintage. As always... thanks for posting on the CJ-3B Bulletin Board. |
