I have given up on finding an original hood to fix so I have bought a new aftermarket to use. Over all the quality is fine they said it was made to OEM spec’s. Debatable in some respects, the stamping is a little different. The basic construction is right on so the oil can dent will develop just like the OEM one. I have gone through the spec page and looked at the fixes for the problematic hood. Bob Christy fix looks to be the best one out there for prevention and I can remove the reinforcement from my old hood to do it. I would like to hear from Bob and others who have done this. Would like to know a placement dimension and if they would have done it different. |

Brian. I did indeed use a scrap good for mine. I believe I had to cut it down a bit to make it fit and welded it to the center seam. I placed it within the "willys" stamped into the hood. The placement is optional but be sure not to get it so far back that it hits the air horn. I would do the same thing if I were doing it again. |
