Hello friends, I am considering to restore a 1964 dj 3a vin number 8202 24273,right hand drive to stock condition. Some suggestions/inputs from the forum regarding 1. Were the dj3a in 1964 stock 6 volt or 12 volt.If so when did the conversion take place - from 1956 to 1964. 2.was the left hand drive pattern of the dashboard layout (meters and hand brakes)retained on the right hand driven dj's. 3. Can I get the stock color code of this batch of dj3a manufactured. 4. Does a 1964 dj3a have the frame/chassis number printed on the passenger side rear to the bumper(as seen in cj3b). 5. Was LSD (limited slip differential)standard on all the dj3a 's produced or this batch of manufacture. 6. Did any have extended foot rests extending from the fender to the rear wheel arch(wedge shaped extension) 7. Did these have hub caps. A lot of questions to be answered, but very important as I would like to restore the dj to stock condition. Thank you all in advance. Regards Dr.Dinesh |

1: I think by this time they were 12 volt but can't give you documentation. 2: Unknown 3: What color are you looking for? Check under the dash and behind bolted on parts for a hint.. 4:Should be the suffix part of your serial number on the right frame rail top ahead of the firewall and behind the battery. 5:optional according to my understanding. I have yet to find one. 6:the hardtop equipped models with the full cutout door areas had a wedge shaped fender step. 7: Dog dish hubcaps would have been offered at the time. Depends on which wheel size you have whether it would have had any markings. Willys was very flexible in what was supplied, especially the export models and there was an almost infinite number of variations....Do you have any pictures you can post?? |
