Willys Jeep Rally or Willys Jeep Reunion; What's the difference

If anyone here knows, what's the difference between the Willys Jeep Rally and the Willys Jeep Reunion. Both are in Hudson OH in May, one on the 16th - 18th and the other on the 30th & 31st.

What's the deal? are they the same and dates changed, are they different and somehow competing? For one the registration money goes to Pete Dunkel in Westerville OH; and the other goes to Bob Christy in North Canton OH.

Check your info again, Bill... The Rally is being held in Heuston Woods, and the Reunion is being held at the Clarion again.

Dates are different, and organizations putting them on are different, although related in the past. Both events are worthwhile. I'll try to attend the reunion myself as work allows but I won't know until that weekend.

Thanks F Bill, After further digging I see they are different.

Part of my confusion stemmed from the e-mail I got from pjdunkel says that the Willys Jeep Rally will be held at Hudson Woods State Park and the registration form says to make the registration check out to Midwest Willys Jeep Reunion.

I was afraid that the Rally thing was designed to confuse which, to me, smelled like a scam.

There have been a few rough spots with the Rally group but they are getting things together and are using a separate name now which helps. ALso being on a different weekend than the Reunion makes it so we don't have two competing events which is also a great idea.

There is a new email out today from Pete... look for it.

And that should be Heuston Woods... ;) Spell check might have autocorrected it, I know my spellcheck wants to.

The basic story is that when it was decided to move the reunion, the group that was putting it on down near cinci was not happy and decided to do their own thing, with the same name and the same weekend. That has changed this year as they are doing a different weekend and a different name, but they got a federal ID number under the "Midwest Willys Jeep Reunion" name last year and have to stick with it, unless they file the paperwork to change it.

The one in Hudson is the original one.

Thanks Bob for the clarification and explanation.

I've been involved with organizations where one group or another get's their shorts in a wad and a split develops. Unfortunately, rather than find common ground and work it out from there, the split often leaves both sides in a weaker-than-before position. Sad when it happens.
