![]() This first checklist I can now clear, except for the instructions of course ![]() Still questioning: (at this time) the 5 screw stud on windshield Valance rear deck And boot folding top But I DO KNOW where the tacks and other stuff goes ![]() Same here. It almost all makes sense with only one discrepancy that I can't find the correct number of turn fasteners on the windshield itself. |

Even though it was only months it seemed like it took years for us to figure out what these folding top bows to tub brackets looked like.![]() ![]() Shown before any rust control methods or clean up attempts at all. Notice the BOWS are RIVETED to the brackets themselves. |

Continuing and documenting my preliminary inspection. This is all UGLY ![]() ![]() ![]() Wet leaves inside certainly left their mark. Better news is the steering 'appears' to be pretty tight and it shifts out good....from a standstill of course. Despite whatever shape the hubs may be in internally the wheels aren't locked up. For some crazy reason minimual rust on the gas tank itself so that's good. More rust preventave measures have been taken, marvel oil poured into the cylinders, and the whole thing dusted down with zinc powder as I get it prepared to go into storage in my shop until I get my other one finished. |

Charles, Since you've indicated this one will not be rebuilt with the 'authenticity' methods of your other one, maybe you could put all that research you've done and your skills and resources together in this one to 'recreate' one of the 'prototype convertibles' we've seen pictures of. That would give you TWO iconic pieces of history to ride in, and for The Willys World followers to enjoy seeing being re-created. Guess you're going to be busy for a while... |

Busy for a while is definitely an understatement. Obviously there's a lot of sheet metal that is pretty toasty, including the windshield too. Some of that I wasnt expecting or maybe better said didn't want to know. I knew in my heart that fate indicated it HAD to be in my hands and safe. I keep going over the advantages (Huge) of having it as a completely unrestored research DJ3A convertible with original parts and the documentation it provides that isn't anywhere else..... vrs. the question of the cost of obtaining it and getting it here, my financial position, and what that's done to my budget which is pretty dang sad at the moment. Those mixed feelings and costs involved go back and forth depending on my mood at the time. For now though it's safe and in the dry and I'll tinker with it off and on as I continue my main concentrations on the 56 until I am able to come up with a definate plan. At the LEAST I'll eventually patch it up as a fun vehicle to drive, I'v got enough mechanical and electric parts do that. It's way too early and expensive for me to think about it as a final product but there's a part of me that agrees replicating a prototype would be pretty amazing. The thing is IF I could ever get around the fact that I'm a nut for originality. I'm sure of this, finances at the time will HAVE to play a part in what I do or don't do when I get ready to bring it back to life. Either way I'll still continue to think of it as my NEW DJ3A CONVERTIBLE because when I look at it that's what I can picture in my head. |

Charles, apparently you you got bit twice by the Jeep bug. Apparently you are very much an optomistic person. LIKE YOU...When ever I see an old jeep I tend to ignore its present state and value it for its real potential. |

Posted by mistake. Meant to just edit. This jeep has by now been used for matching original parts on my 1956 DJ3A convertible and research. Body was too far gone and funds too short to restore. Sorry Charles Tate |
