Hello, I have been wondering if the dj3a's also came without the top bow brackets on the rear and on the rear wheel fender? It does have a tail gate though. The dj3a I own is a 1964 title and as per the previous owner it never had a soft top.Prior to commencing with the restoration, kindly help me decide whether need to get those in place or omit them? Thanks a lot. Dc |

Dc question?? will you ever want to put a soft top on your jeep? if answer is yes or maybe I would suggest buying some repos or original pieces and weld in now before you paint your jeep. If you are never gonna want to have a soft top then you can get along without them. that choice is all yours. Me I would put them on now. even if you have them you don't have to use them, but you cant use them if they are not there. It's all up to you and what your plans are for your jeep Bruce |

Thanks Bruce. My doubt was regarding the basic open body djs.whether they had the top bow brackets/ holders from the factory or did not? If they didn't have them from the factory,I would go further and add them. Regards. Dc |

dc, I think the answer is an easy one. If you look at the "Siblings" link on the CJ3B Page, you'll find a lot of images and info on the DJ's. While I don't see a conclusive "all DJ's had them" I do see examples of brackets as well as period brochures/ offered options that included multiple soft top options including the surrey. For me that means the top was an option and therefore would need the brackets. |

Thanks Russ. Had the same varying doubt where some had brackets and some didn't. But I think if there was an option of the top, better have the brackets and keep the top optional. Regards. Dc |
