I have been browsing for hours and reading anything and everything I can about the Carter YF 2392sa carb

Has anyone successfully used another version of this as parts are super hard to find. I have rebuilt it but I can't seem to find another one that I can get a few parts off of it..

Can I use a 938 or 2467 etc? There must be one super close in specs that I don't have to worry about blowing the motor.

Thanks

Here's the cheapest alternative.

http://m.ebay.com/itm/252111511119

Information furnished to me a long time ago from one of the most reliable persons I know and I noted at the time was a Carter YF 738S or YF 738SA as a acceptable substitute for a Carter YF 2392S on early DJ's. Most importantly you'd want to check if the linkage setup is the same. If not that might be fairly difficult to correct. I've been watching this eBay carb for months but I haven't checked the linkage nor do I need it.

938 or 2467 would be completely incorrect.

GREAT and now a little background on how this carb came to your attention!!

Along with a very special thanks to Mr. Bruce Agan who first provided the information way back in 2011.

the dj has always used the YF carb. 1955-56 parts lists show both the YF 2392 & YF 738S & 738SA carbs used on the early DJs. the YF 738 carb was the original carb used on the 4-63, VJ-2, VJ-3 (jeepster).

I first found and reposted this info Sept. 10, 2014 when looking for carbs myself.

I set up a standing eBay search for those particular carbs at that time

Even when I no longer needed a DJ CARB I left the search in place

The search never turned up ANYTHING until

When that one showed up I watched it for months. The owner listed it for 45 days at a time and I think he renewed the listing on three seperate occasions because it never sold.

During that time the price never changed

And FINALLY someone (you) showed up on the DJ board looking for a carb and I was able to pass that information along!!!

From the pictures it's a great looking carb.

I'm truly honored to be a part of this chain of events and I hope it serves you well.

Special note: during my years long of having that search set up that's the only Carter 738sa that ever appeared on EBay!!! I'm glad that somebody finally snagged it!!!

Damn what would I do without your persistent search for that carb! I ORDERED IT!!

I couldn't pass up having a spare.. and the condition said go for it! Looks beautiful!

I think I may also order yours too! Carbs seem to be my 'frenemy'.. one day good to me.. another day is my enemy!
Thank you again fr your knowledge!
