After a several attempts the Flyer organization is excited to finally add a talented young forward like Brayden. Though we feel Robin will be a top flight goalie; we are confident in our goaltending depth to be able to make this move to add some scoring depth. Great dealing with the North Stars organization. |

Damn... Ryan and Doughty... I have to be honest and say that this is an awful deal for Victoria. Trading away two superstars who haven't even reached their potential yet in exchange for 3 above average players and a pick that most likely won't be a top 5 pick. Also, both Wideman and Horton will be UFAs at the end of this season so basically Evo is trading Ryan and Doughty for Havlat and a 1st. ![]() There's no way Havlat is even close to being as valuable as Ryan or Doughty. Evo, what were you thinking? Sorry to be so hard on you but I just don't understand why you would accept a trade like this. I have a feeling you could have gotten a much better return if you asked around more... This trade just doesn't make any sense for Victoria. Actually, I'd go as far as to say that this is a disastrous deal for team Fury. I need to think this through before making it an official trade. I wish I was better prepared for a scenario like this where I actually have to take a timeout and seriously consider a veto, but I need to hear both GMs before deciding the fate of this trade. I agree that it's not a really good deal for Evo, but I think each GM is responsible for his actions, and except there's signs of collusion between the teams involved (which i don't think is the case here), we shouldn't meddle into their business and veto trades. I mean, if a GM made a bad deal, well too bad for him, and that's that. There will be good deals and bad deals, just like in real life. just my 2 cents... |

I was going to say something as well, this is a terrible deal. I agree you don't want to meddle in peoples trades but if a GM has shown he can give away his best players for nothing, then the teams who aren't benefiting from bad trades will be at a disadvantage pretty quick. It was pretty clearly stated before the draft started that terrible deals would not be approved, I have a hard time seeing how this one goes through when like Pens said, at the end of the year all you have to show for this deal is the glassman havlat and a first that is likely to get worse now that his team has Ryan and doughty. |

On the surface it sure seems like a tough deal to approve. I'd like to hear Evo's reasons before passing judgement. It would make sense if Doughty and Ryan were still unproven and Evo was in win now mode but Ryan and Doughty are producing as much as the 3 guys he got. Frankly none of the 5 players are really lighting it up, though Wideman did start strong. You could say he unloaded Doughty's big contract but the guys he is getting also have big contracts. |

The Ryan-Doughty deal between Burnaby and Victoria has been rejected by the league. After hearing both parties, I have come to the conclusion to use my veto right to deny this trade. After some talks with Evolu7ioN, I came to the conclusion that he is still a rookie to keeper hockey and didn't fully realize what he was doing in this case. Evo said he wants to succeed now and thought he made a trade that would help him win right now. It is true the trade would have made his team more competitive now as Doughty and Ryan are slumping, but the long term effects for Victoria would have been disastrous. However, I am not denying the trade to bail out Victoria. Usually I don't interfere because if a GM makes a mistake, I think he has to suffer the consequences of making a bad decision. But this is such an unreasonable trade that for the sake of the league I had to interfere. No matter how you try to look at this, it wouldn't be fair towards all the other GMs of the league if one team got 2 franchise players pretty much for free. If approved by the league, this trade would have bigger consequences than destroying one team's future. Allowing trades like these would screw up the league's balance pretty quickly and no one wants to see that happen. That's why I'm using the veto right that I thought I'd never have to use. To sum this all up, trading Ryan and Doughty for Havlat and a 1st is a trade that no sane Commish would approve of. That's what this trade basically is and that's why the veto. My decision is final, but I am always open for discussion on where the line goes between just a bad trade and a veto worthy trade. CMHL Commish - Pete |

My team is struggling and I need to make a deal, but since everyone seems hesitant it's been impossible to do that so far. Without major changes my team is destined for the basement and I think Evo is feeling the same way. I'll let Evo justify his side, but for me although I like it, it wasn't a no brainer and I'll explain why: I believe that the guys I'm trading will continue to outproduce Ryan and Doughty for the remainder of this season, so my position in the draft is unlikely to change. A top 5 pick in next years highly regarded draft would likely be worth more than Ryan itself. He would be getting a player with similar potential, but at a fraction of the cap hit. Also I doubt he outproduces Havlat this year. Doughty has great potential but he better be producing as a top 5 dman since he's getting paid $7M. I doubt he out produces Wideman and Horton this season. Also you have to remember that hes freeing up a huge sum of cap space, which is pretty valuable in this league. If I weren't writing this on my iPhone I would support my claims with more statistical evidence, but there is more to this deal then it seems on the surface. |

Nuckle, I understand that you're frustrated seeing a dream deal like this go down but I wish the Staff Member in you would come out and look at this trade from the league's point of view. In my PM I already told Evo that if this was a one year league, it would be hard to interfere, but as this is a keeper league, this trade has to be seen as Ryan+Doughty for Havlat+1st and you know very well that even Havlat and a 1st wouldn't land Ryan or Doughty in any circumstances, let alone both of them. I'm glad the trade got vetoed , it sucks for Nucklepuck though. That was genius theivery, probably should of stopped at just getting one of Ryan or Doughty, going for both just made it waaay to lopsided. |

Listen I can understand why it's vetoed because I admit it looks bad on the surface, but you guys are being short sided in your analysis. Right now both of our teams are looking like bottom 5 finishers, and we both want to win now. The difference is that he doesn't own his first. He has no incentive to finish near the bottom this season. This deal would have likely netted him a top pick who's value would be at least equivalent to Ryan (you guys are telling me you would rather have Ryan at 5.1 than a top 5 prospect making 1.3M? Or does salary not matter anymore?) Same thing goes for Doughty, he's not tearing up the league making $3M.. He's eating up over 10% of a teams cap while playing like an average dman. Horton, Havlat and Wideman will likely outproduce these two and after this season it frees up a lot of cap space to use on players picked in the FA draft or through trade (or once again does cap space not matter in this league?) You guys are making it seem like Evo is an idiot and I'm pulling off the biggest heist of the century. Maybe try to take a macro perspective and look at the whole picture before commenting. |
