I¡¯ve heard a lot of good things Adidas ZX 850 about the Salomon Sense, but have also heard that it¡¯s not durable enough to justify the hefty price tag. The Sense Mantra is a slightly beefier shoe with what looks like a more durable outsole (weight = 9.6 oz in size 9; stack height = 21mm heel, 15mm forefoot). Most importantly, the price tag is much less than the Sense at MSRP $120. The Sense Mantra is available now at Running Warehouse.

8. La Sportiva Mutant, Spring 2015 ¨C I¡¯ve always liked La Sportiva¡¯s design, philosophy, and aesthetic, but unfortunately haven¡¯t always liked the shoes in practice other than the X-Country (now discontinued), Bushido, and to some extent the Crossover GTX for winter (original version, haven¡¯t tried the 2.0). The Mutant takes a lot of what I like about La Sportiva (sticky rubber, mountain specific design) and possibly adds a more comfortable upper to the equation with what looks like a slightly wider last. I¡¯ve really wanted to like many of their other models but either found them far to heavy and stiff or too ADIDAS COUPLER narrow (Helios in particular). Interested to try this one on to see if La Sportiva can finally put it all together in an all-out mountain shoe.

I came across the Anakonda on the Biochemical Runner blog, and they look similar to the La Sportiva X-Country (a light, grippy trail shoe that I liked for its simplicity; they are apparently replacing the X-Country). Don¡¯t have a lot of details on this one yet, but looks like it¡¯s under 10oz and 4mm drop. The Helios is a lightweight (8.5oz in size 9), 5mm drop, well cushioned trail shoe. In this video review (in Spanish) it looks like it has a very minimal upper and is pretty flexible. That¡¯s about all I have on it. The Helios is in stock now at Running Warehouse

4. Nike Terra Kiger 3 and Wildhorse 3, Summer 2015 ¨C I know they are coming, but don¡¯t have much info at this time. I¡¯ve heard, but not confirmed, details of the Kiger remaining as the speedy shoe in the line with a 4mm drop and re-worked outsole and slightly different upper. The Wildhorse 3 is supposedly moving to 8mm drop with an added rockplate on a somewhat redesigned outsole. No pictures availble at this time aside from the Instagram snapshop above. Update: Running Warehouse recently posted preview videos of the Wildhorse and Kiger 3 ¨C you can see them below:

I give the Merrell Bare Access 2 a slight edge over the Altra Instinct 1.5 due to the fact that the Merrell Barefoot last fits me so perfectly. Roomy forefoot, glove like fit Adidas ZX 750 femmme through the midfoot and heel, and very little excess material (resulting in a considerably lighter shoe than the Altras). Like the Instinct, the Bare Access 2 has a full rubber outsole which should provide excellent durability. Great shoe ¨C you can read my full Merrell Bare Access 2 review here.

Unfortunately, the pronation control paradigm has come to dominate the world of shoe fitting, and judging by the number of people asking for shoe advice on online forums who start by claiming they are an ¡°overpronator,¡± it¡¯s not a topic tha Adidas Stan Smith femmme t seems to be dying off as rapidly as it should.
