I'll settle this.

Gannondorf multiclassed. Simple as that. He is power, yes. But power comes in more than one form. He's got both strength and magic power, but not extraordinary amounts of both. Otherwise, he'd be able to wipe out entire towns with one blast.

Also, I rock with SSBM Gannondorf. He's one of my primary secondaries.

With Kirby as my primary, of course.
Dr. Wiley has surrendered. Mega Man has saved the planet from destruction. But will it last!!!

I can't believe you guys are trying to argue that Ganon does not represent Power. You're arguing against CANON.

I'm not argueing that he doesn't represent power, I'm argueing that he doesn't represent PHYSCIAL power. Gods are usually uber magically anyway. I assumed Ganondorf to be a magical GIANT, who focused so on honing his magical power to godly levels that he didn't have time for the mideval Nautilus machine.

But the weight classes in that game are based around actual weight, meaning Ganondorf could be a cream puff in strength but as long as he weighs a certain amount, he'll be that weight class.

He still represents power. The most he would crossclass would be to Battlemage, and only to learn the powerful, heavyweight spells of mass damage, like he cast at Link.

A Power base never abandons his heavyweight status. A faster, lighter fighter who sacrifices some of his power for the sake of versatility...is not a Power base. That's the Thief class.

...are we having the same arguement in TWO DIFFERENT THREADS HERE?!

Listen the only way Ganondorf is going down weight classes is if he goes on atkins and judging by how he looked in Wind Waker, he could probably use it.

Er...
Black mage from FF.
A living weapon of mass destruction, but muscles like canned lima beans. THats sorta what I view Ganondorf as. A black mage, though a godly-upgraded in endurance one.
edit: YES.

But still SSB judges by actual weight.

The only way to godly upgrade in Endurance would be to stack on some weight. Armor. Muscle mass. Etc.

You can train physically or intellectually. You can't do both simultaneously. That's why those dedicated to magic are often frail, and why those dedicated to strength are often dim-witted. Those are the extremes.

Ganondorf may take some time to learn some powerful spells, but he is still a Power base; he still majors in Strength.

I see nothing wrong with a heavy magic user.
*BURP*
... Ahem.

All the smash clones are vastly different from the originals. The move lists may look the same, but their play styles strengths/weaknesses best/worst moves are all differnt. Pichu for example deals a lot more damage, so you need to play more like A.B.A. from guilty gear, I.E. Make sure you only do calculated attacks that are bound to hit. Pika on the other hand is great for spam whoring.

Though he's still smart, which is strange all of Zelda's cast may have one area they specialize but they don't lack in the other.

*Raises Hand*

OH OH TERRA! What if they go Red Mage path?!

On what EVIDENCE ar y'all assuming Greudo Form Ganondorf has big muscles? His only physical attack is to the platforms BELOW link, and even if that connects it does less damage then the fall link takes after he platform is destroyed. I made my statement based on EVIDENCE- that he keeps his distance, indicating some form of physical frailty, and that he uses spells, indicating mageness.

Once again, sacrificing experience in one realm for experience in another.

A Black Mage, a White Mage, and a Red Mage are all the same age. They all have the exact same experience; they've put the exact same amount of time into their studies. The Black Mage has learned to cast Flare, the ultimate dark spell. The White Mage can raise the dead, restoring them to life. The Red Mage can cast a strong fire spell, and can heal some pretty serious wounds, but has not reached the level of Dark Magic that the Black Mage has, nor has he reached the level of Light Magic that the White Mage has.

Any time you choose to train yourself in another area, you are sacrificing experience in every other area that you could be training in.

Hey, G-dorf combos like crap. I seriously doubt he's had training in fistfighting. He's still insanely strong physically, but without a weapon, he has no idea how to use it. He was born strong, and it's not like he sits on his ass all day, letting that muscle go to waste.

Heck, even in D&D, mages are stronger physically than commoners... unless I misread that. Which I probably did.

I think I have the solution: Gannondorf is normally very light. However, for the Super Smash Bros. Melee tournament, he knew he'd be at a disadvantage. So, instead of relying on spells, he used his magic to augment his physical power, and make himself more resistant to attacks. Ever notice how in SSBM, his regular strikes often leave sparks of electricity, or sometimes(read: ^A) small explosions or something? Yeah. He's not relying on physical power. He's backing it up with magical for the purpose of the tournament. He came to that tournament PREPARED!

Edit: In short, he's using his magical prowess to bulk himself up. He's got big muscles through magic.

Edit2: Did I just call him "G-dorf"? I did. Wow. Why did I do that?

Hey I'm just judging my comments on his weight

I mean this guy doesn't look like "WOO SUPER STRONG" But he looks heavier then Link Posted Image

Also I'm thinking Ganondorf had some physical strength, considering that Nabooru desired the silver gauntlets to take Ganondorf down, so I'm thinking she felt that Ganondorf was physically strong.

Also the Gerudos themselves by principle are strong warriors, why would their King be different?

Also yeah Terra I know, I just wanted to act like a school boy

Gannon cheats, its called WISH.

His DM was a tad too lenient though. Well not the DM that turned him into a pig. Oh and if you look at his Zelda and Link to the Past move sets, he is distinctly a magic user. Invisibility + fireball. Sure LttP throws a boomerang pitchfork or something, but that can also be done through magic.

What evidence do I base his power off? The fact that his attacks are hard enough to smash part of the battlefield? The fact that you can clearly see he's armored, as opposed to the pink dress or green tunic? The fact that the only spells he casts are huge, time consuming chargeup attacks of SHEER POWER? The fact that when he transforms, he chooses to go the road of the giant, hulking beast?

Whether Ganondorf is a powerful mage with a weak body or a mostly strengthed individual who knows magic but slow and powerful ones.
