Hey now, I'm sure they'll find an untapped audience with this new ad campaign. Klu Klux Klan members, Fred Phelps, the Montana Militia, the list goes on and on. |

that was admitedly a fake cover. For a while SQUARE actually had copyrighted the name Chrono Break, but they let it slip and no longer own it. |

Eh, its for the best. They made CHrono Cross BEFORE they "fell", ad were still capable of non-KH good, so a Chrono Break now would be DISASTEROUS. |

I have concluded that Square are terrible at making direct sequels. So a third Chrono game would probably be godawful underneath the fancy graphics and music. How about a friggin' Chrono Trigger Advance that gets a worldwide release instead of just only making it to America like the last two times it was released. I'd like to play at least one legit version of it. |

Amen to that, fellow Brit. Also, I have discovered that games programming is really easy compared to the actual design part. I'm much better at the "bigger picture" stage of the process, as opposed to the smaller ideas. I wanna make a really simple little game which features no real level design, just to say "I've made a game". But nothing is coming to mind. Any suggestions? |

Most people usually start with a simple platformer or a shooting game. That or a Tetris clone. Personally I'm diving straight into a point-and-click, but god only knows how I can program a ScummVM style engine from scratch. Once I stop being lazy I shall look up on actionscript. |

Actually, Actionscript is really nice. When me and my friend Neal were doing our game (with Cyrus, natch), the majority of the engine was done in Actionscript. It's a bit complicated at first, but Neal really liked it. |

Puzzle games are where it's at. I know there's 8 billion clones of breakout, but there's no reason there can't be 8 billion and one. |

Hmm. A break-out clone, you say? Well, I have built a coupla classes which could easily be modified into either that or maybe Tetris. This was because of an old idea I had that just plain didn't work. So you know. Meh. Maybe making Tetris or Breakout will provide a little inspiration. Like, a slight tweak to the code to make the gameplay more interesting or somesuch. |

Alright, so. As some of you may remember, I was writing a Final Fantasy game on this forum. I've decided not to continue it here, because then if it ever gets made, the script will be online... So, I guess Knight could delete it or something. I'm also working on an original game called "Kinetik". Though, I've been wondering, do game companies have storyboard people, or do designers just write the games themselves? EDIT: Kinetik would be either a third-person adventure or a 2D sidescroller chronicling the adventures of a superhero whose default name is Kinetik. You'll be able to level Kinetik up after each level by leveling five powers. You don't get enough points to max out all the powers, but you can build a well-rounded superhero, or a specialized superhero. His main power is energy manipulation. This power manifests itself through the five powers you can level up: energy blast, melee (fists and feet glow with energy), speed, jumping, and shield. Each level would have hidden paths which could be opened by the leveling up of one of Kinetik's skills. You'd also be able to play a 2P co-op game where the second player is Kinetik's sidekick, the Kinetikid. EDIT 2: Ooh... how 'bout this: two versions. Kinetik: The Movie Version will have a darker atmosphere, third person adventure with realistic graphics, and a leather suit. Kinetik: The Comics Version will be the brightly colored 2D sidescroller. |

A most interesting idea, actually. Never got into it myself, much. But it should be interesting to see if I can do this. Hmm. A random number generator, which places the numbers on the grid according to the rules of the game... Then shows enough of them to solve it, as per a ruleset I define myself. It could work. |

Hehehehehe. I can see the intro sequence now. *Alex falls into the game. "Where the hell am I now? Well, it doesn't seem so bad..." *As he talks, Otto shows up. Alex notices him at the last moment. "Ohshit!" *flees! Game starts. |

I recently found out about the best video retail store ever. Sure enough after I found and went to the closest one, which was 8 (!!) miles away, I was amazed. Let me put it this way, used PS2 games were about $9-$12 range maybe less too but I didn't see those. I got my firkin DS Lite for $129 ($91 after trading in my old DS). I also registered for the store to reduce the used game prices even more for only $20 more. I saw a marred of games stocked all over the walls of the small room that was the store, I even bet there were some old games from the era long lost that were not on the shelves (forgot to ask about them). The store? It is called GameCrazy. It may be attached to your local Hollywood Video store. If not, then search www.gamecrazy.com for one that may be in your area. *Wanders away with a dreamy look on my face.* |
