When they threw Alucard into castlevania: dawn of sorrow.

I swear, I'm like the only guy who thinks he's cooler as Arikado.

No. There are a few others. Not many though.

I've yet to find anybody else that thinks Alucard was cooler in CVIII though.

He was definable MALE then, and had a nice, really Castlevanian set of moves. You ain't the only one, brotha.

Cool then.

I actually did like giving him a sword, but other than that, he just seemed to fit better as the older self.

The problem is, once he got a sword he became inargueably japanese, despite living in Europe since about 1250.

well, if he had had a different swordsman style, he might have ended up still being european, but yeah.

The whole Castlevania series seems to be turning Japanese. It can't be that hard to turn on some old American (or Italina) monster movies to get the proper inspiration. You can't even count on the old favorites to appear anymore. Frankenstein's Monster and the Mummy never used to miss a game.

And Medusa is practically a cameo, these days.

Somehow they can't even get those right.

Although the vampire ninja maids were rather cool.

And inexplicably named after what is generally the Queen of Succubi.
Y'know, inexplicable because they're MAIDS and all their soul does is a vacuum cleaner and they don't do anything remotely sexy.

Well, it's something anyway.

Honestly, I liked the 64 games. They had vampires everywhere, an Evil Dead reference, and even the supporting cast was out to get you at some point or another.

The 64 games were CRAP. As were the PS2 games. THe GBA games are okay, but waaaaay to Japanese and RPG-ish.

I'm not arguing that the 64 stuff needed a LOT of work, but other than the lacking game mechanics and graphics, they were heads above the more recent ones. They actually felt like Castlevanias for one.

I don't know. I enjoyed Juste Belmont's inexplicable need to do interior decorating in Dracula's Castle.

But... where were the Belmonts? THe recent ones at least tell you where they are.
Edit: Yeah, and the pokemongonewronglike urge tocollect souls in the most recent portables.
