It'd be nice to have a Megaman game that was so damn focused on robots. |

Two things: One, I'm really looking forward to the next portable CV (it's DS, not GBA), the "WWII" era one. Not really for the story... but because they keep hinting at wifi. fucking. co-op. If they pull through with that... I would be so happy. The world needs more co-op. Even if it's just a bonus area and not co-op story mode. Two, I was under the impression that Sonya Belmont's game didn't exist because it took place before the point in continuity where Dracula first turns evil and attacks humanity because they killed his wife. I mean, CVIII's supposed to be the first fight against dracula, right? ...also, she's running around in a skin-tight leather one-piece earlier than Sypha had to pretend to be a man in order to go out adventuring. ...also, I agree with Alan that I was dissapointed when I found out Dracula in CV wasn't ol' Vlady. |

Well technically, Vlad spent a long period of time captured by the Turks. When he got back he was much nastier. THat coulda been when CV drak pulled the switcheroo with the Son of the Dragon. |

It did show classic Vlad in Symphony and referred to him as Alucard's father. |

Exactly. CV Drak went to Turkey, met Vlad, heard about this great little country, used black magic to change his appearance, and came to Walachia claiming to be Vlad son of the Drakul returned. THen he did Vlad's job of defense, being overly brutal about it, with impaleings and eating bread soaked in the blood of his enemies(claiming it was to get tehir strength instead of for sustinence). Had a wife and son, People began suspecting, and he dropped the charade. |

Oh STOP IT. Theres also an American being introduced. The series is not turning Japanese, it is merely involving other countries, and people from other countries, other than Europe. It is still primarily happening in Europe anyways. The Japanese have their vampire legends too ya know. |

BUt I mean, the SOma games TAKE PLACE in Japan (even the one in the European castle was in Japan), the best weapons are Japanese, the characters (Alucard included) are Japanese, and an increasing number of monsters are, well, not European, thats all I'm saying. THe series is about DRACULA for chissakes. WHeres the Wlachia? Wheres the Europe? Where's the organ music, dramatic lightning, and disgruntled peasents? And where in the name of Cthulhu is the WHIP? Its practically a CAMEO. |

So why don't they use one of those legends instead of trying to tie it in with the legend of Dracula? And FSB, you DO have better ideas than the CV designers, and this is coming from somebody who is studying to be in the profession. I'd surte as hell play your Castlevania. The playable female characters (what few there have been) were up there with the males easily. |

...paralleling and mirroring is exactly what's wrong with the series. They need to do something new and fresh. The WWII thing and the Japan thing are bad ways of doing that. But they do need to come up with something new, and stop mirroring and paralleling their other games.

Proof? Of course not!
Claimh Solais, Death's Scythe. Both are considered the "best" weapons in DoS, neither are Jap in origin.
Soma - European Hammer - American Julius - European Graphm, Celia, Demitri, Dario - Whatever they are, it's obviously not Japanese. vs Mina Yoko It's questionable if Arikado even *counts*. I was under the impression that it was just a disguise.
Things *change*. Things *evolve*. Otherwise, they stagnate and *die*. |

Its nice when your arguments gain so much ground you don't even have to make them yourself anymore. And Jew, did you just make shit up, or were you just in error about that whole "the European castle is still in Japan" thing? Because frankly the making shit up to prove a point thing really pisses me off. |

Terra-- It's called symmetry, theme, and a continuing storyline. I enjoy it best when things come "full circle". The idea I mentioned HASN'T been done. I have to wonder if you really read that part of my post at all... I was talking about in literary terms. Alan, Luke-- thanks. You guys make me blush. ;p Jewthulu-- Play Curse of Darkness. There weren't many peasants (they were turned into zombies, and the nobels were ghosts) It had plenty of roaming around the European countryside, and Trevor! (also a mode where you can play as Trevor). Cyrus-- No, you've gotten some things mixed up. Sonya is Trevor's mother, and Lisa was dead already at the start of Legends. Dracula was evil at that point. Maybe not quite on the level of CVIII Dracula, but still pretty up there. Otherwise, why would Alucard think it was his mission to storm the castle and kill Dracula? I played Legends and I DO remember there being some dialogue about that. There was only a 26 year gap between Legends and CVIII. I also think Sypha disguised herself as a man so she would be a "wizard" "magician" or "warlock" and not stoned to death for being a wtich the instant she went somewhere. I think the whole "Dracula isn't Vlad" issue was all an issue of Konami's typical lazy writing. After all, in Bloodlines (the genesis game) didn't they make Elizabeth Bartley is his niece, who is also accused of being niece to Vlad Tepes? Although reading up on Bloodlines, the new CV DS game suddenly makes a lot more sense.... |

The problem with that arguement is when you change things too much, you're left with something that onl;y vaguely resembles the source material at best. There's a limit to what and how much you can change. |

You mean like Megaman Z? I don't think we've crossed into that territory yet, and ZX(released in Japan now) is looking to make amends for that. BTW, does anyone have a copy of Z 3 or 4? all I got is 1=/. I wanna get the omega form when it comes out here. |
