Rikimaru's final boss in Tenchu: Wrath of Heaven. ...It might have been helpful to know that you are completely invincible in round three and need only a few slashs to win, but I was too stressed to find out that that one was more for cinimatic purposes. Round two was a bitch, though. Final boss from Shinobi. I really liked how he called out his attacks, though. "I call upon the fires of Hell!" "Spirits of the netherworld, obey your master!" Any boss at all from DMC one. And some basic enemies. |

I have decided to slightly alter the battle system to make it more strategic. The exact calculations are not figured out yet, and it's too late for me to think about it too deeply. But here goes. Turn order is calculated using a system partially based on ATB, in that each fighter has a bar (the enemies is of course invisible, the players is not) which fills up, and when it is filled, that indicates the players turn. Each bar fills up a little following a tick, which is an abstraction of time that has occured in the battle (could be a second, could be a minute, could be an hour depending on how lazy the characters are. The point is that to us, a tick happens in, like, a millisecond). When a player or enemies bar is filled up, they make a decision about what to do and who to hit. Then, depending on their chosen action, a number of ticks go by before it hits. In this way, the player will be able to decide whether it is more worthwhile to get a smaller spell to hit now, or for a big spell to hit later. MP is spent when the spell is completed, so if the character/enemies MP is reduced to an amount less than the required amount to cast the spell, it becomes useless. Whoo. Did that get explained right? If so, would that maintain your interest? I'll be coding that aspect of the thing over the weekend. |

I am rating this stuff as first playthrough hard, anything is easy once you know how. The all time end all : Wiengraf/Velius in FFT I spent 2 months on him before I beat him, took so long because I had to restart twice to try different builds, I don't care what anyone says first time through the game unless you are significantly powerleveled or yell 50 times, which you aren't likely to because of how it first looks Velius will most likely kill you. Even with the Faqs atleast once a month a topic on how to beat him comes up on Gamefaq's message board. Magemaster In Final Fantasy 6 is another asshole boss, infact that entire tower is seriously fucked the first time through. No saves from top to bottom and even if you beat him you still gotta make it back down the tower and theres the possibility of getting hit by double Meteor or Metron spells from LV 90 Magic. and my personal greatest bossfight of all time Sekundas from Tales of Destiny 2/Eternia I have told this story on here 4 or 5 times already, 10 levels lower than the recomened, It took me near an hour to kill this asshole, I got him down to about 50,000 HP and he went nuts, cast distortion on my healer and went Neo on my ass, killed my healer and my reviver in less than a minute no spells just his foot in my ass, only reason my main character lived was a sheild with auto regen and me using an item that halved all combat damage from the start of the battle. It was at that point I thought I was fucked, and I saw my hp blinking which ment I could use the Auorua Wave, which revives all dead party memers in its AoE I thought hell it was worth a shot, then I got something odd on my screen in addition to the Auorua wave, Meredy started casting something I never saw her use before, a bit fucking bolt of lighting that delt 50,000 damage to Sekundas, and the only proof I have is a freind who witnessed it and vouches for it, despite the fact that no site on the net has anything about it. |

That could use a visual aid, like in FFX or MMX:CM. In fact, you might as well skip all the ticks in which noone does anything and use the aid. |
Hey, the comic seems to be updating kind of regularly. Maybe we should vote to spread the word.

You mean, kinda like, calculate the turn order for the next five rounds or so, and then display their picture a-la FFX? Hmm. Possible, possible... Oh, and I forgot to mention. Status effects like poison or regen work in the system as well. For every X ticks that go by the effect triggers, doing whatever. And another possibility is, whenever a character preparing to do a move gets hit, or hurt or distracted or whatever, he takes a little (very little) bit longer to complete the move. |

Zeromus was a punk, because I never ran from a battle. I mean, seriously. He was gone in two and a half rounds. It was easytype, sure, but still. As for M+L... I know the bosses weren't particularly hard. Only boss who ever killed me in that series was Cackletta's Soul, because I was entirely unprepared for her the first time (and how the Bros. both have 1HP, and Cackletta gets first attack), and then unprepared for most of her attacks. The difficulty curve came outta nowhere. Elder Princess Shroob was epic in the sense that I stayed alive long enough to attempt multiple strategies until I found her weakness. And then beat her. Another really fun epic battle was you v. Drawcia in Kirby Canvas Curse. YOU the player had to fight her with your paintbrush, while keeping the useless Kirby alive. |

Soo... I'm playing on a firends PS2 and we are playing some games, including a copy of Kingdom Hearts 2 we rented. My opinion: ... Kingdom Hearts 2 is all right I guess. The button layout is pretty creative, though spamming x with an occasional triangle seems to suffice usually. The plot was pretty fun, up untill we got to the actual disney movie levels, and I kinda just felt like "fark that" and skiped all the dang animations. Psychonauts was pretty fun though, I just can't stand those damned loading screens >.<. They wouldn't be so bad if they wern't so frequent though. So far my favorite PS2 game we've played is Jak and Daxter, although to be honest 2 really.... sucks. All the platformer elements take second stage to the guns, which is a huge waste=/. edit: Oh, and in KH2 the Gummi Ship thing could practically be its own game. |

The problem with the disney levels is that you know what is going to happen. did you play the first one or the second? |

Second. Um.... soo I got whats gonna be an unpopular critique here but... from the PS2 games I've played, the cube uh, wins hands down graphically>.>. Granted, theres a boatload of great animation, but... eh. Yeah. The ship building thing is really fun. Seriously, its worth buying Kingdom Hearts 2 just to build some gummi ships. Oh, and I went for variety when I got the staffs back in twilight city, then attack when I had to choose between the wand, sword and shield. Does the first one even matter anymore? |

If you haven't gone through the first, the second will seem lacking, and it affects your stats a little, but honestly the order you get your abilities matters more, and yea magic got nerfed quite a bit in the second one but once you get all your battle abilites mashing X really isn't a big deal because depending on where you are in comparison to your opponent X = 5 moves. |

Ok, someone help me here. I understand that in terms of sales the ps2 won the last console war, and xbox came in second. But... in terms of raw power it was Xbox, Gamecube, then PS2, with PS2 having an advanatage in hard drive space and stuff. Whats boggling my mind here is price, where Gamecube seems to have the advantage and... ok I'm gonna ignore the implications of the last two statements a second. Um.... I've just noticed something. Snes vs Sega, N64 vs Ps1, XBox vs Gamecube vs PS2, Gameboy vs Game Gear, DS vs psp. Is it just me, or regardless of all other factors, is there a trend for the least powerfull console to win? I mean, I don't really get it. Maybe the problem lies more in supply than in demand with these consoles? Maybe the developers play it safe by avoiding the more powerfull console in a generation? I don't get it. Certainly seems to bode well for the next console generation I guess. |

I tend to think that there are three main factors in a console war in order of importance 1. Amount of Good games. 2. Price 3. Secondary Features. The winner of each generation usually has the best games. |

Which would be a direct consequence of 3rd party support no? I'm saying that, interestingly enough, 3rd party support always seems to go to the weakest console in any given generation. |

At the beginning of the generation, none of the developers take full advantage of a console's power anyway. Or at least I know they didn't with the last one. And the beginning of the generation has very obvious effects on the rest of it... |

I don't think pure power is the deciding factor when developers go to a system for a game. Could you imagine playing GTA with the Wii-Remote? |

Wait what? Playstation has had the most 3rd party support the whole time they have been the leading powerhouse. You've got the fanboys and you've got the gamers. Fanboys will buy it reguardless, gamers will buy it if it has the games they want for a price their willing to pay. I'm a gamer, I've had playstation/ps2 since highschool, but I doubt sony is going to get the 3rd party support this time around so I'll buy a nintendo this time. |

There is a pretty consistent trend of under-shooting instead of over-shooting with the first generation of games on a new console. Everyone is still feeling out the new hardware and learning what it can and cannot handle, so games tend to be under maximum ability. Games don't tend to really push the limits of the system until the end of a console's life, before the new wave of consoles comes. Anyway, with the new generation of "Casual Gamers", I think graphics of games will be going up in importance, and quality and originality will drop. We'll see how it actually plays out in the long run. |
