By 3 do you mean 3 or 6?

6.

And thats part of the reason FF7 is more popular. The 3 = 6 thing is just confusing.

Yeah, I first heard about FF6 as FF3. Then when I saw an ad for FF7 I wondered what happened to the other 4. Bear in mind I was 12 at the time.

I must have gotten lucky or something. I was level 25 tops at that point. Everyone on my team had level 2 magic though.

Yeah, it was harder for most people. :P

Saying a game is too broken because you CAN grind an insane amount to completely unbalance yourself... well, you know you can level build in any game, right? Just because you could level build your magic separately from your actual level doesn't really mean anything. You were still level-building.

Who needs to grind? Anyways, that below the expected exp level for an average game(go through everything once, don't go out of your way to find battles, but fight when you need to, etc. Not exactly an impressive record, games have been completed at much lower levels, but yeah, thats pretty low level considering.

When you needed to grind is in the end when you had to gather three teams of four to go through Kefka's Tower. Hated that part so hard. I basically had one four man team that I used for everything, and when I hit that point, it meant I had to grind everyone else to a level where they didn't suck ass. I just quit, and still have yet to ever beat FFVI because of that.

I got everybody to 80 and maxed all their magic.

I think I had 5 exp eggs by the time I finished with the Brontosaurs.

Meh, Mog can cover for one team, just gather 5 or 6 good characters and split 'em between the other two. Boss might be hard but I believe I had Vanish and X-Zone on at least one character each in the crap team that got me past the statues. So I remember anywho.

Bah! End game power leveling is practically why you play RPGs.

If you can't beat the final boss blindfolded with both hands tied behind your back you're not trying hard enough :P

Because apparently it's not for the storylines?

I know that's why I play them. The combat system is usually a pain in the ass. If I'm playing a game for gameplay, I'll play a strategy game or something more action oriented.

(Q)_< I cant tell you how much time I wasted raising every dam character in Sukoiden 3 to lvl 50 for that last battle only to find that 3 groups of lvl 50s would have been substantial....and then get my ass kicked by the witch

Don't worry, if the Bison ever take over the midlands Godzilla will take care of them. Just like he did with Bambi.

So, you want an RPG where you can beat the bosses easily? I'd reccomend you go try and find Shadow Madness.

Malia Weinhagen talking about her father Dave Arneson

"The biggest thing about my dad's world is he wanted people to have fun in life," Weinhagen said. "I think we get distracted by the everyday things you have to do in life and we forget to enjoy life and have fun.

"But my dad never did," she said. "He just wanted people to have fun."

Playing Suikoden V. About thirteen hours in right now.

STOP CHANGING THE PARTY SO FREAKING MUCH!

Seriously, the party changes if a character leaves the room for five seconds. Even if there's no opportunity for fightning between the point when they leave and the point when they come back. What's the deal? No, really? It's irritating when I have to get rid of five little boxes indicating that a bunch of people have left the party... only to have to get rid of the five little boxes indicating that they've all come BACK into the party... with only about ten minutes of plot in the interum...

Also, for a silent protagonist syndrome'd guy, the main character sure does seem to talk a lot. (You never hear his voice, but he does talk, and every single time there are two options)

And the game gave me about two seconds to decide what to say during one point. That was irritating, because I really didn't want to do what it chose for me, but I had stood up during the cutscene and wasn't even holding the controller. I have this sinking suspicion that it'll stop me from getting some character, somewhere down the line...
