Good advice for others (if in fact you were answering my post), but I'm playing it now, almost done (currently in Episode 12). My post was more of a 'Discuss.'
I don't know, I've never tried. I tend to save before battle, and if I lose where I'm supposed to win, win where I'm supposed to lose (like the first fight with a certain Demon Lord), or have to walk away (BLASPHEMY!), I just quit and load from the last save. Since you can return to the Base (village, whatever) between sub-chapters (battles). |

Ah, alright. That was my biggest beef with the first game... I couldn't save in battle. And considering 90% of the game is battles... yeah. It was mostly a pain with the item world thing. |

I think you might want to ask specifically if you can save in between floors on the Item World, then. Looking at Makai Kingdom's system... I sincerely doubt it... |

Yeah, it was always a pain trying to stick it out for an entire item world... at least in Makai Kingdom there are 'divers', an item that lets you skip 30 levels... |

That would be my qurestion too. And in that case, I'm not interested. Disgaea pissed me off with the stupid Item World, and only saving every ten levels. I gave up on the fourth world because of it. The game was fun, but there were lots of things that pissed me off. |

You really never had to do the Item World. You could beat the game only doing 10 levels of it, and if you wanted to do the aftergame you only had to level enough in the Item World to be able to farm Cave of Trials 3 over and over. Theoretically you could gain those levels on other repeated dungeons, too. Of course, that did get kinda boring, but... the aftergame really WAS just a bunch of levelbuilding/grinding until you could beat the next-uber-boss. Hardly worth saying that the entire game wasn't worthwhile... |

...the hell? I'm saying that was an entirely OPTIONAL part of the game. I never even beat the FIRST optional boss, although I did get to Prier's LEVEL... never even tried to fight her tho'. The game itself is very good. |

Exactly. THAT'S where I got stuck and gave up, because before it would let me go against the rich demon guy, I had to beat ten levels of the Item World, and I tried every strategy and could never pull it off (Blitz through, fight all foes, nothing worked). |

The gum enemies were the ones beating me... Or rather, I would always get close, and then die. Laharl was my only half-decent person, so basically everyone else would die off as Laharl cut a swath of devestation. However, by the time I was hitting the eigth and ninth floors, usually the enemies were tough enough to swarm me and take me down, losing the run for me (And by this time I'd usually spent 30 minutes to an hour depending on how the random worlds turned out). So I tried to level up some of my other characters, and it was taking forever and a day, so eventually I just said screw it all and gave up. |

...weird, I didn't have any trouble, although I did put forth some effort into making my secondary characters strong as well. Making generic demons is a good idea to do early, and leveling healers is a pain since you only get XP from actually getting the killing blow... Going straight for the exit is always the best strategy. Not like a piece of gum is going to have any good rewards anyway. |

Disgaea. It's really tempting to just level the main character to the exclusion of anyone else. Although I always found it easier to beat the ITEM world with just one strong character than it was to beat the plot levels like that... |
