I'll have to agree there. I've had a few chuckles at the 9,000 meme. But hell, I'm amused by almost everything.

Well, I got FF3DS.

Even though it's based on an NES game, FFs took so long to change that it plays like most modern ones.

After getting myself killed a couple of times by some of the more brutal old skool parts, I've decided to take a short break.

We must earn the respect of the developers by torching all rental stations! Only from their ashes will there be peace!

So, his point is that because people rent, companies are more comfortable with charging mini-fees.

Right, because we should spend $50 on a game we may or may not like. And further more, I don't really think people who rent games care about maxing the game out.

To wit, the author doesn't really support his point with evidence. He's just another angry blogger trying to redirect his rage towards someone who doesn't give him something.

If you rent games, you contribute nothing to the games industry.

I wasn't aware I was supposed to.

Sounds to me just like another person that's upset he has to buy add ons to his Final EverStarWarcraftQuest.

He sorta' has a point. Sorta'. When considering if a sequel, spiritual or direct, for a game is plausible, the first and largely most prominent item is the bottomline for the predecessor. If the prequal doesn't generate a solid profit, all the praise or after the fact dedication in the world isn't likely to spawn a new game. Just look at Earthbound*. Though I admit I haven't actually read the blog,(the name "angry-gamer" makes me wary to the worth of the time spent reading it) I would hazard a guess that this trend is his main source of irritation.

Of course, if your solution to this is to ban rental stores, you might want to get off the lead paint habit. If he really wants to see a sequel for his most favorite games ever so much, maybe he could try buying stock instead of hoping strangers will stop renting.

*Yes, I know about Mother 3; my point here is that you don't see a Earthbound 2.

I'm honestly thinking of dropping video games as a whole.

Nothing in the next gen appeals to me at all except for Smash Bros. and the next new Pokemon.

After that...nothing.

And I certainly don't wanna sheck out a wad of my hard earned cash for systems that pretty much do NOTHING new.

Maybe I'm...gasp...growing up.

I wouldn't say you are growing up, rather the industry is in that bad of shape. After all there are games that still hold your intrest and you are willing to shell out the money for, just not as many as there used to be.

He makes about as much sense as the crazy hobo that yells at passing cars on the highway about aliens taking his brain.

I don't rent things so I can avoid buying them, I rent games to make sure I'm not slapping down $50 dollars of my hard-earned money on what might essentially be digital excrement, which seems to make up a very large portion of the gaming market today. If the game doesn't have enough gameplay to make me want to play longer then five days (Jak II last me about two weeks), or I never get the urge to replay it, or even have enough value that I want to support a game by buying it anyway, then it was a pretty bad game that doesn't deserve to continue on, wasn't it? I'm willing to support games that are good, and I'll go out and buy them even if I rented them and beat them (Eternal Darkness is an example of me doing exactly that).

In fact, I'd argue it's even more damaging to run out like a retard and buy games with no advance knowledge of what you're getting into, because then by buying crap, you are encouraging the creation of crap.

For that matter the people willing to pay out nickle and dime amount for the latest addition to games and such are a vastly different crowd from the renters, whop usually just want to play the game a litle bit and move on to something else.

Advance Wars? Mario Kart? Star Fox? Bomberman?
