Don't worry, at least it's still missing a coherant plot!

I just spent £75 on Suikoden 1, am I insane?

Yes you are. The second game is much better. Don't get me wrong, the first game is good, and helps establish plotlines in the second (Plus I arguably like the Rock/Paper/Scissors war system over the Tactical one in the second game because it's much easier), but the second is a better overall game.

I have the second game already. Did the Clive/Elza quest on it too. Been searching for the first for about 5 years now. All I need now is the last two volumes of Suikoden 3's manga and I'll have all of them in some shape or form.

Also, two questions. One, I just spent £75 on Suikoden 1, am I insane? Two, how do you dash in this game?

Firstly, that's a bit much for Suikoden 1 (I can see spending that much on 2, but I got 1 for, like, $20 a few years ago).

Secondly, same way as in 2. You need Stallion in your party to run.

Hmm... guess I'll have to pretend Stallion's Ted or something.

From what I understand Suikoden 1 is a lot rarer in the UK. A friend of mine a couple of years ago said something about there only being a few hundred working PAL copies of Suikoden 1.

It was the same here with all the hype of moving your data from S2 to S3, but now since folks have played S3 and found it sucks (good choice with the manga btw), it's gone considerably down in price.

Hey, I liked Suikoden 3... it might not be as amazing as 2, but seriously, if you want to gripe on a Suikoden game, complain about 4.

And if it's rarer in the UK, I guess any copy is a good copy. Assuming that a US copy wouldn't work on your Playstation for whatever reason...

Playing 4 to get an idea of the Suikoden series is like playing... Mystic Quest to get an idea of what the FF series is like.

Only with plot continuity.

Not a whole lot of plot continuity unless you count Ted kicking huge amounts of ass. And the Rune Cannon thing I guess. I guess 4 works better if you play Tactics. At least Tactics explained some of 4's plot a bit more. I was left confused as hell with the final boss until I got Tactics.

I haven't played enough of either game to really know. I just know that the stories at least take place on the same PLANET, and the nation in 4 is in 5.

And Tactics is kinda frustrating if you haven't played 4.

3 killed my faith in the series, so I didn't pick up four (along with the fact that you could no longer carry over data). It was a half finised game, the original development team working on it left half way through and left the rest of it to a bunch of folks who knew nothing about the series. That said though, you could definatly see while playing it that 3 had ALOT of potential, which is why I'm really enjoying the manga. Still, 2 (and it's Suikogaiden spinoffs) is the best in the series even with the horrid translation, hands down.

I like 3....and yes it's the only one I have but I see nothing horrid with it.

Bah, besides the point, I finally got Sacrifice! And I have the horrible feeling that my choice in gods has caused me to have an awful selection of creatures and spells....

The demo of Three was bad enough to put me off buying any more Suikoden games. From everything I've read, by decision was valid.

I'll instead savor 1 and 2 as the awsome games they are.

He payed close to a hundred and fifty dollars. He specifically stated he payed in pounds.

See, I fucking hate that they're doing Kingdom Hearts 2 Final Mix because I'll end up obsessing over it and then be let down by the fact I can never play it.

None the less, there's additions to most the worlds, new drive forms, battles against Organization members at the Coloseum, Roxas is actually a boss battle now, and Sora in a Santa suit.

Fuckers.

Does searching for this for five years count as hardcore collector?

And I still say Suikoden 5 did the series justice, regardless of how bad 4 was. And 3, apparently, but I've only ever played and finished the first chapter with everyone. I'll stick with the manga seeing as the game was never released here.

3 was... Yeah. It felt incomplete, really. Never played one, but 2 is one of my favorite games. I have yet to try 4 and 5, but hearing not nice things about 4, I'm leery about trying 5.
