Okay, I just got Symphonia.

Maybe I'm missing something obvious here, but how do you turn on the multiplayerness?

Eh, multiplayer isn't that good. It's hard to get to work and when you do the camera only follows the first player anyway. >.>

Go to the screen where you map special attacks to buttons.

Set the character in the appropriate spot to manual.

Ta-da.

Okay, I'ma assume most of you don't care about/dislike Mortal Kombat. The latest game is alright, assuming you could tolerate the last two. The air combat system is interesting for the original characters, not so much for the kreate-a-kombatants. The create-a-fatality system is fun, but not worth the exclusion of the classic fatalities, like sub zero freezing and shattering or scorpion ghost rider head'ing them to death.

The KaK system, however, is awesome. There's a lot of design choices, maybe a few less than Soul Calibur 3, maybe more, not sure. However, the design-a-fighting-style stuff is awesome.

The brawler-ish single player portion is alright. It feels cut off, and the ending is a letdown. It's also not quite as fun as Shaolin Monks (which, mind you, was pretty awesome). Of course, the endings for the arcade modes are a letdown too. No cutscenes, not even special art like the last few. Just a narration over the character doing poses.

One of my friends just picked up Disgaea 2 for me for christmas. It's interesting, but not quite as innovative as I'd hoped. Still, I've had some fun with it.

Right now, the PS2 is off to florida with my roommate. He wanted something to do, and I figured that it'd give me a chance to work on my comic some more. Plus if I didn't send it away, I'd buy FF XII. And I can't afford that right now. Stupid spending too much during christmas. Should be able to buy it with my next paycheck though, then stare longingly at the cover, wondering when I'll have a PS2 to play it on.

On the bright side, it gives me more time to putter on the comic.

Stare longingly at the?....*hides Wii paraphernalia*

AHEM! Besides that this game (Ace Attorney) gets a plus for plot twist, I mean DAM after the guilty verdict I'm ready to go "NOOOOOOOO!" but then Butz litteraly saves my butt! Or Edgeworth's if you please.

And that judge...really needs to get with the times for the sake of the defendant and also needs to stop letting the prosecution get a dammed leash around him...

Is the Lakebed Temple this Water Temple DH was fussing over? 'Cause that wasn't so tough.

The fourth dungeon can go straight to hell, though. I'll look it over in the morning, but I'm pretty sure.

Finally, is it OK for me to call the Twilight Realm the Dark World?

Also, an important lesson for everyone: the Hylians do not fuck AROUND when it comes to capital punishment.

Yeah, go on if you want.

The fourth dungeon ain't so bad, really... The only bit that tricked me was this one bit where I didn't notice there was a hole in the middle of the... Uh, never mind, I'll let you figure it out yourself. Most of the trouble I had was from not noticing stuff.

Meanwhile.

I'm kinda wondering about something here in my own game design. Let's say that someone dropped a key down a well, and you go to retrieve it. In the well are six rooms that are connected to each other in a fairly standard layout, and the creature with the key kinda runs away into another room when you approach him.

Most of the rooms have chests of some description in them. One (and only one) of them has a boulder in it that can be pushed around. When pushed, the rock rolls until it hits something.

To get the key, the creature must be forced to take a route that will lead it into a dead end, by pushing that rock in the way. If an attempt is made to approach the creature while the rock is not blocking its path, it will go back to the previous room.

So...Keeping in mind that in this dungeon would be enemies that are slightly harder than in the previous dungeon (very low stat increases, but they are there), I am wondering as to your opinions? I think people will probably figure it out fairly quickly, or get frustrated and not play the damned game any more.

Or, alternatively, I could make it possible to buy the thing the key unlocks. But make it expensive as all hell compared to other things that could be bought.

But I wanna hear your thoughts first.

It could go either way. Just by hearing what you have to do makes us all go, "It's so obvious!"

Then again, I spent a good half-hour figuring out the two statues guarding the Master Sword in Twilight Princess.

Poe hunting is fun. Quick question, Drek: Does the Poe scente work elsewhere, or just in Arbiter's Grounds?

Hrm. To be honest, I never tried it. And by christ are you right about those damned things. Ugh! I doubt I could do it again. Got it by sheer luck.

And yeah, when I describe it, it seems obvious. But then again, I keep thinking that people are just not gonna see that they can try it, and chase the damned thing around these six rooms for maybe an hour, get frustrated, and give up. Which is why the shop option, with someone else commenting that somebody else in town has one and implying they might like to borrow it. Keep the players options open, let them deal with the problem in their own way. Hell, I might also provide the capacity for the key to be replaced!
