and they seem to be selling faster than anyone concived. Crist there was two ps3's on the shelf of my local walmart, and they can't even keep a Wii in for an hour.

I think they just underestimated word to mouth on how fun the Wii is.

Don't worry, if the Bison ever take over the midlands Godzilla will take care of them. Just like he did with Bambi.

Hmm. Thank Juron. I like the way you think there. Now I just gotta decide what sorta skills they have, and I'm set.

Geez, looking at the total, there are eight characters with seven classes each... That makes 56 classes in this game. Holy hell.

Complicated.

Some guy sets out to rule the world, and in the process attacks a city where a particular family lives. This family was being visited by their friend, Rikav at the time of the attack, and they all flee together. However, a few of the soldiers see them, and the parents of that family stay behind to allow the children(Ray and Maih) to escape with Rikav (they are far more capable fighters, and strategically it is the only option available). They run away, but another soldier sees them. Rikav tries to protect the children, but is clearly outmatched... But then, he finds himself being subjected to a healing spell. Maih almost collapses shortly following this, and Rikav is able to use his renewed strength to incapacitate the soldier long enough for them to escape. The implication is that Maih is too young to know how to cast any kind of spell, but she somehow was able to.

Ten years later, the people that fled the city have made a new home for themselves hidden in the mountains to the north. A number of them have undergone training so that they could protect themselves if needed. Ray is a powerful fighter, capable of adapting to make use of virtually any weapon, while Maih is a compassionate mage that specialises in healing spells. They discover that the entire world is in danger, and they have to leave in an effort to minimise the damage.

Phew.
There's a hell of a lot more going on here, of course, but that's basically what you need to know going into it.

Now that I think 'bout it like that, yeah it probably does.

The gameplay style and evolution of the story goes in a wildly different direction, though.

Yeah I know, for one thing the boy gets CAUGHT and is WEAPONLESS when the big evil dudes come to kill/kidnap them. The similiarities are cute, but I was just poking fun. :P

One thing I don't like about RPGs is there is very little reason to select different attacks from round to round. One thing that would help is for to limit the skill/spell selection each round based on what was previously selected, but creating such a system and having it be balanced is a different story alltogether. Oh and the reliance upon rock papor scissors element systems doesn't really help either.

Of course it wouldn't as you would just change your equipment to suit the new area. I go for strengths and weaknesses that make sense in this.

I dislike the same thing, really. When grinding levels, it kinda makes me phase out and not really pay much attention to what's going on. There might be something that could be done about it.

Another thing that works is what they do in Paper Mario. That is, change the ENEMIES state(jumping on a koopa flips its shell but does less damage than a hammer, etc).

So... Hitting an enemy with a particular type of attack changes their vulnerability to particular attacks? Works for me.

Like, say, setting an enemy on fire means that setting them on fire even more won't do more damage. Or something.

Also, a blinded enemy would probably not be hurt by light or dark type spells.

How about if we use a water technique, then electric techniques increase in effectiveness and fire techniques decrease?

Or something that moves out of the players control, like the movements of the sun (unless they get some special medallion thing)

Would fire/water combos be more effective against metal enemies?
