Wow, excellent suggestions. So, as it stands at the moment... Mugger:- The physical one. Wields heavier weapons and suchlike, but is as fast and agile as the great wall of china. Swashbuckler:- Fast, makes use of light swords and heavier armour than most of the other thief classes. Taunts foes, lowering their attack/defence and suchlike. Grifter:- Smart. Uses intelligence based techniques to gain cash and inflict status effects. Cat-Burglar:- Agile. Uses said agility to gain cash, escape battle, and avoid damage. Thief:- The redmage of the class type. |

Normally I don't like to make fun of independent no budget game developers. I mean, they try and it's not like it's easy to do what they do... but there's a limit. If you don't have a budget, DON'T dress up your freinds in cheap Halloween costumes and try to make a Mortal Kombat-ish fighting game. http://www.gallopingghost.com/dark/ Still, I look fowards to this. This could become like Plan 9 of Videogames, the game that has absolutley no redeeming value whatsoever but is praised and admired for it. How can you not love a game where the tough blind mysterius fighter looks like he's go the mother of al Atomic wedgies?

A bottle of wine costs 10gp A sheet of paper costs 4sp A loaf of bread costs 2cp A potion of Cure Light Wounds costs 50gp A scroll of Cure Light Wounds costs 25gp A sheet of paper costs 1/25 that of a bottle of wine while a scroll costs 1/2 that of a potion. Extended, a spellcookie might then be logically expected to cost 5/8 that of a scroll, as a loaf of bread costs 1/20 that of a sheet of paper. That would place the cost of a cookie of Cure Light Wounds at 15.625gp, which might become 15gp 6sp and 2.5cp, or it might become 16gp, depending on how complicated one is willing to make things. Does this sound reasonable, or am I just being odd? As a note, spell pastries lose their magical properties after 6 days. For reference, when calculated with a bottle of wine and a sheet of parchment the result is 10gp for a cookie, or when done with a mug of ale and a sheet of parchment the result is 2.5gp for a cookie. |

I wouldn't base it off of the prices of existing similar items. A potion isn't worth the value of it's components, it's the value of the spell it contains. Likewise, a cookie with the same effect as a potion wouldn't be priced based off of the price of the flour used to cook it, it would be priced based off of the spell effect it has, and the fact that it goes stale would lower the price. Scrolls cost less than potions because a) they're easier to make and b) using a spell from a scroll is the same as casting the spell yourself - you need magical talent to read it and it's harder than quaffing a potion. Basically, a scroll is harder to use. 16gp is probably way too cheap for a cookie of cure light wounds, even considering that it goes stale. I'd put it somewhere around 30 or 40g - more than a scroll because anyone can eat a cookie, so it's more useful than a scroll - but less than a potion because a potion doesn't go bad. (scrolls aren't written on normal writing paper or with normal ink any more than a potion is made out of nothing but water) |

As a Canadian, I feel it is my honour-bound duty to point out that people who play hockey can't be goths. ...the instant they got tripped and fell on the ice, they'd snap like twigs. |

I can't say that the thought has ever occurred to me. It's just not one of those things you think would ever come up in a sane and just world. However, I must admit, that while I know it's going to be awful, deep down I am curious as to how the game is actually going to play in the end when it's completed. |

Okay, I see your point, but now factor in that the class that can make these can only cast their spells by baking these cookies. I'm trying to find some way of making this class vaguely near practical, is all. |
