SECRET BOSS! SECRET BOSS!

With more life than Sephiroth...oh fuck me.

I never even beat Sephiroth...

;_;

Speaking of which, I was gonna beat hard mode for the secret ending...never got around to that...*facepalm*

Sephiroth is actually easier in the second one. It's just the matter of getting his pattern down.

Sure, it took me about 45 tries...but...you get used to it...

The trick is to wail on his ass while he's in the air.

I find Sephiroth's first game pattern is a little easier to master.

That aside, I can't be the only one who thinks that secret boss's coloration looks like crap compared to the secret video's Armored Unknowns...Then again, I also think he looks too big to be any of the ones in the original ending...

Maybe I'm just being a little bitter, though.

It's been fun guys.

Well, I did try to take the bitch on before I was max level and all that jazz, so yeah.

I could bone him in the first one.

I never beat Sephiroth in KH1...

...and I'm not even AT Sephiroth in KH2... I think I'm gonna restart in Proud mode...

...and is it a bad idea to always pick "mage" for Sora? I've done that, but some Gamefaqs guides reccomend against it...

So whaddya think? Should I try "fighter" for Proud Mode?

Hells yeah. "Mage" don't work too good, fighting is hella easier as a smackdown. Usually not enough time to cast also, plus you'll wanna save magic for healing spells, which don't need much power.

I'd disagree with you if Thunder worked like it did in KH1... before it was an AoE, now it's single damage.

Granted, magic has saved me many times--and not just in healing. I've got an itchy trigger finger.

Tell me though, exactly how much less effective is magic if you use fighter instead? And how is it less effective? Does it do less damage, or use more mana, or what?

I honestly have no idea. I picked fighter, magic was eh, I rarely used it, and rarely encountered a situation where it would have been advantageous for me to use it.

I honestly found that mage was easier.

But eh, I guess everybody can do what they please.

Hmm... I might continue to use mage because you can buy ethers... I've never actually used ethers, and if I tried doing that I'd a) have a use for all the money I get and b) have like, 5 times as much firepower.

On the other hand, I don't want to have to wait until level 99 to be able to farm for the Ultima Weapon.

Well, that's a great argument! It didn't even need, like, points, or reasons or anything, how could we possibly counter it?!

Oh, wait. I know.

No it doesn't.

Oh yeah, that's the stuff.

Sorry, I needed to get that off my chest before I made this an intellegent discussion. So I spent 150 hours + "playing" FF12, and I really didn't have any fun at all. And before you say "Why did you play so long if you didn't have fun", the answer is I promised a friend.

SPOILERS AND FOUL LANGUAGE ABOUT FINAL FANTASY 12 BELOW!

Story / Character: 1/5

The story was mediocre and rife with plot holes. Vaan, a young orphan-theif gets caught up in quest to save the kingdom (where have I heard that before?). Joining him is Panello (female version of Vann), Ashe (princess who was in another castle), Bacsh (loyal muscle), and Fran (this FF animal-person with no character development). Infact, none of the character had any real character development outside the parenthesis, and seemed more like card-board cut-outs. Balthier was the closest to being an interesting character, his leading-man egotistical complex being a great touch, but that's only because he was the only one they spent any real time developing.

Vaan's brother Reks was one of the few Dalmascans who survived the war and attempted to save the king in the begining, only to find "Bacsh" betray them and kill their king. So aparrently Reks tells everyone that Basch has betrayed them, and then becomes comatose as in the one cutscene he's featured in afterwards? How does that happen? Also Vaan says Reks died, but you never see it happen or learn how, leading you to believe theres a plot thread there that never got resolved. Also Vaan never really resolves his hatred for Basch, only sort of half heartedly forgives him after being in the party after a while, expecting the play to assume all is well between them, which in real life or any other FF, it wouldn't be and the writers would go somewhere with those unresolved emotions. In that same vein, they never say who it was that killed the King, if it's supposed to be Basch's brother Gabranth, there are near no hints leading to it other than they look alike. Also, why could Vaan see the prince who looked like his brother when Ashe was the only one else who could (leading viewers to believe that only royalty could see him). Did that mean the prince was Reks? And Vaan is a prince? How does that work?

Panello is just a female version of Vaan, same background story, orphan-theif who works for Migello. If she's supposed to be the moral half of her and Vaan's coin, she falls short. Yes, she has some private scenes with Larsa, but little else to make her grow from the "big sister" role or even away from Vaan's shadow.

Fran is Bathier's Sky-pirate cohort and much like Mog, Uarmo, and Kimari in previous FF's, she fills the "untinteresting animal character with no real backstory". Yes Fran left her village tragically never to return to her two sisters, and she has the mist 6th sense, but nothing else to define her character. Why did she leave her home with (or for) Baltheir?

Ashe is the princess who wants revenge, but later learns she's being manipulated by the Ocuria, the god-like creatures that come from out of nowhere in the overall plot near the end, and are never heard from again after their initial appearance. Her big plot point is the choice she must make, vengence or peace, which is hypocritical since the Empire offered her crown back in the begining of the game and she refused ("but that just means she grew in the game since then", bullshit). Like Vaan, her issues with the empire and Basch magically disappear as the game goes on with no rhyme or reason (working Larsaa sure as hell didn't convince her, he was too busy with a Mokuba complex), and Al Cid was too busy puting the moves on her to really make much of a difference.

Bashe's relationship with his comrade (name escapes me), fell short (oo!, the guy who seemed betrayed them and the guy who seemed to betray them was loyal! What an unexpected twist!). With that done, his only other real development was when you learned he was Gabranth's brother at the end (who, if you bothered to count, had no fewer than three death scenes within 5 minutes). With nothing else to back him, he bacame little more than the figurative muscle (since he's not much diffrent from anyone else gameplay wise).

The only real interesting character was in the supporting cast, and was Cid. His dynamic was beautiful, the man working so that man can determine their own fate, but also the father who never aproved of his son's choices. Bathier thus got some merit points, and his obcession with being the "leading man" too, but he was also the conveinient info guy, who never really gave out enough info about the story / world to be of much use.

There was also so much that was unresolved. Why was the Marquis narrating durring most of the game? What the fuck happened to "the impending Rosarian invasion" everyone was hellbent on stopping? What was Vayne's motivation to kill his father and try to become the next Dynast-King? That's just the stuff off the top of my head and I'm sure I could come up with a whole list if I tried. Suffice it to say, I must say the plot was not up to usual FF snuff, which has been the case since it became SquareEnix.

I'll post more on what I disliked on the Gameplay and the rest of the game if anyone cares, but for the momment I think I've written enough and given you enough to read.

*Looks at the list*

Some GBA Blackjack/poker bullshit ranked higher on the list than GOLDEN SUN and ZELDA?

...This list is a joke.

EDIT: The top 25 Gamecube games is a MUCH better. Though I don't agree with it 100%, but you can't please everyone.

There is no sane reason for tony hawk to have been on that list at all.

And ports... as great as FFVI is, it shouldn't have been on that list, as it's a SNES game, even if it did get remade for the GBA.

Question: why doesn't Twilight Princess count for the Cube?

Also, any Gamecube list that doesn't have Smash on top is false. Don't get me wrong, at least the list is SANE, but still...

I have every game in the top 5 and love them, so the Gamecube list is acceptable.
