Don't forget that the R-button (maybe L...) substitutes for A during battle, and it also allows for skipping the menu in order to perform an action, like speaking, or checking an item.

Edit: Never mind, HE already stated this.

R served one function: ringing the bell on the bike.

Not sure. Got confused about what button does what... do you need to press a button to call up the menus?

I'm playing an English version, though.

in battle? the menus come up automatically. Out of battle? A brings up a menu of commands like "talk," "check," "Status," etc. L circumvents talk and check, but the menu needs to be opened to check status, use items, cast spells and equip. That answer your question?

To each his own. Better by far that any of the crap they're churning out these days, at least.

M+L is my favorite RPG...

It even has my favorite boss: Hermie the Retarded Christmas Crab.

And the battle system as a whole was hilarious. I loved how they danced while you selected their moves so much, I want to put a similar idea into the menu system for my game.

I must conceed that Hermie: The Crab who thinks he saved Christmas (as I call him) gets the Best Charecter award. The party in that game seemd to static, too preprogramed for me. The game also felt short, somehow. Also, I LIKE BEING ABLE TO EQUIP WEAPONS! IS THAT TOO MUCH TO ASK? Other than that, the game was excelent.

Party was too static? It was just Mario and Luigi the whole time!

If you tried to add another character, you'd need another button, and it'd be too complicated!

You could at least have a system of customizeable powers, like the badge system in the PMs or the Ability system in FF9.

As far as I know, you get a better ending or something. I might try that.

As for the Badge system, there WAS one in M+L, if you didn't notice! As for customizeable powers... bah. Every game doesn't need fucking complications. M+L was short, sweet, and simple.
