They have those. Not in spades, but they have them... And characters DO have specialties. One of the big pluses of the game is taking 12 of the 30+ characters to make a force that suits your style. There's redundancies, like the... what is it, 7 knights... but each one of them is slightly unique. |

That's good. There is nothing I hate more in a character than having no special traits and being exactly the same as everyone else. I realize the convenience in "customizeable characters", but I prefer real characters who have actually been alive prior to the beginning of the story, rather than unskilled robots. |

Then you should try Fire Emblem. The plot may be a little bland, but every character has a well-developed backstory, and the inter-relationships between the characters are top-notch. FE's fairly difficult though, so if you don't like hard games, you might want to pass on it. |

Fire Emblem is like Shining Force getting drunk and kicking you in the balls... "Oh sorry, your character died? That's too bad! She's dead forever!" "You want to get a bit more experience? Too bad! We're going through the plot at MY pace, whether you like it or not!" |

Characters dieing permanently is a GOOD thing, GJ, it forces you to think strategically. As for experience, arenas, GJ, arenas. |

Death should be permanent in a game like Fire Emblem (*has played it, loved it*). |

No, it makes you a protective mother hen who restarts constantly or resigns herself to a depleted army... I'd rather be able to sacrifice troops for a greater good with minor consequences, not "haha she's dead lolol"... |

If everyone that dies just springs back up from the ground afterwards, it stops being strategy and becomes "My forces are stronger than yours, haha" |

Restarting your game is one option, as well as resigning yourself to having a depleted army, but there's one option you're missing. Play smart, so no-one has to die. |

Mm... penalties I can understand, but I don't think permanent death should happen. That's just me, though. |

There used to be an image here telling you to vote, but then Photobucket, the image site made to allow you to do third party hosting, no longer allows third party hosting without throwing a shitload of money at them... and I can barely afford to eat. So no you get some text of me bitching about it, yaaay! Also, go vote. Everyday I'm tumbl'n. "This bitch is makin' me all Paru..." ~Hang in There, Kogasa-san! | |

In a game where criticals, counters, and double attacks make chance so big, that pretty much means leaving absolutely no vulnerabilities open... so you just form up as a plodding machine of death... I dunno, that doesn't appeal to me very much... |

I don't necessarily want a serious answer here, but why do medpacks heal you when you walk over them in some games? You would think that you would have to actually use them or something. For that matter, why do things you just walk over end up in your inventory? why don't you have to grab them? |

Because grabbing stuff is tedious and expedience is seen as a higher priority than realism in most games. |

You do know that the game allows you to look at every statistic of a battle before you go into one, right GJ? |

If you knowingly send a unit, with a fair chance of missing, and the possibility of getting killed on the counter-attack, into battle, and they get killed, then that's your own fault. |

The game requires you to actually think through your options. To make a move that is wise to make, and to not make a move that is unwise to make. You are required to strategize. |
