They've been tentativly reaching for an older audience with deals like grabbing the RE games, and Eternal Darkness, but they need to do more to balance their franchise between younger and older audiences, and to do that means they have to come up with some top quality stuff to pull some gamers to them from the PS2 and X-Box wagons. X-Box and PS2 have totally gone for older gamers, and is dominating that market nicely, so Nintendo still grabs the younger market, and has the "Kiddy System" stigma because of it. The problem is, they don't have the major Cash Cows of the Sports Games Series, so they have been struggling for a while now to make ends meat, even with domination of a younger age group, and their few Blockbuster games that really pull in the sales (The Zeldas, the Marios, and the Samus, mainly). Their online idea isn't a great one. Yes, Online is a great idea in and of itself (Imagine being able to play Mario Party or Crystal Chronicles or Super Smash Bros. over the internet? I can sense some of you drooling.), but they are matching it with Gamespy, a HORRIBLE online system, and they are making it the focus of their next system? Not only will they scare away many kiddy gamers (Mommys and Daddys are scared of the big mean internet), but if they use a pay-to-play structure, it'll scare away many people tempted by the idea that would have come over otherwise but can't afford 19.99 a month and a credit card to play it. I dunno. It's definitly wait and see. Rumors and "Hidden Showings" can only go so far. Until we get concrete specs and a detailed gameplan straight from the horses mouth, it's impossible to predict how it will go, and even AFTER we get solid info it will be impossible to predict how it will go. |

I just fear that Nintendo will have more difficulty making ends meet after the release of the new system, and will try to survive by taking money out of secondary programs- like R&D for new and innovative ways to play, or types of games. Without innovation, big N will go the way of its Glory Days rival. |

I fear that Nintendo is trying too hard to be new and exciting and different. The craptacular minidiscs was a sign of this. I hate those damned things, they're too small. >_< They're trying too hard to be "innovative", and throwing out things that will make them COMPLETELY DIFFERENT from everything else. But the problem is, based on the minidiscs, the pointless existence of the GBA SP ((WHY?!)), and this new "We'll focus mainly on online gaming" thing, they're willing to sacrifice quality for originality. This...is not a good sign. |

I'd like to see a nintendo evolution RPG of some sort. You'd start as a single celled orginism and work your way up. It would be non linear and never ending. |

I just wonder: when nintendo goes the way of Sega and Atari, and becomes a third-party-developer, who will they work for? Sony? Microsoft? Nokia? Multi-system? Edit: No man, that is a GREAT idea. I'd love to play a game like that. But can you imagine what the commercials would be like? "Warning: The ideas in the following commercial are those of the subgroup that made it and not of Nintendo as a whole. We are not favoring evolution over 'ID'. " |

Blah. If you need to try that hard to explain it why bother. At that point it's indistiguishable from evolution anyway. |

Eh, they only need it to sound all sciencey. This isn't a scientific matter, it's a political matter. Attempting to get Creation Theory accepted into public school education by going straight through politics, rather than trying to prove it as a scientific theory. |

The idea behind ID is that everything is much to complicated to have naturally occured, and there must be an unknown inteligent mind behind it all. Their arguement sounds something like: "how could something like an eyeball happen on its own? Its too complicated to develop over time. SOmeone must have made it." I'm guessing that they are ignoring the whole "4.5 billion year old earth" thing, and thinking that the world is just shy of 6000, like it says in the bible. If you make that assumption, their right. But that is a leap of faith-contrary to the scientific method. |

At this point, I'm thinking that most Christian leaders trying to get this stuff through have officially lost their minds... I'm not some big proponent of "OMG, SOMETING SAYS 'IN GOD WE TRUST', REMOVEZ ITT!!1!!!!!1111" and in fact think that is the dumbest behavior I've seen in years, but Christian Fundamentailsts trying to get Creationism taught in public schools and going against Seperation of Church and State is just as idiotic. |

I think the whole RELIGION MUST BE TAUGHT IN SCHOOLS OMG OMG SEPERATION OF CHURCH AND STATE ISN'T REAL (the capitals following the OMG's are a paraphrasement of a statement made by a supreme court justice) thing is just about the dumbest thing I've ever heard. As is the OMG OMG RELIGION MUST NOT BE SEEN TO EXIST OUTSIDE OF HOMES AND PLACES OF WORSHIP OMG, which is dumb, although rather less so. |

>_< Extremists are bad. Be they atheist extremists who get super-pissed about "In God We Trust" or "One nation under God" and throw media tantrums, or christian extremists who get super-pissed about Creationism not being taught in school, and throw political tantrums. Either way. |

People don't like understanding people with different viewpoints, because they tend to find out that they're not all that different after all. And everyone needs an enemy... Extremists on both ends are loonies, but there's actually surprisingly few of them. The large numbers behind the extremeists are usually just uneducated about it... |

How sad. If only there were no red and blue states, oly purple. However, purple is assosiated with hosexuality, so the red states'd never do it. Edit: And the extremists/uneducated control the education budget and curriculum, so the problem will never solve itself. Unless we do something. |
