N3: 99 Knights for the Xbox 360 is looking MIIIIGHTY interesting.

Oh, and apparently, Oblivion's not a release title for 360, though the PC version is slated for a November release. Too bad, so sad, Microsoft.

March, 1, 2006

Fuck. Square-Enix, you fuckers. Fuckity fucking FUCKERS.

Bastards, not ONLY did you manage to ROYALLY screw the winter season, you've also moved it back just far enough so that it'll be competing with Twilight Princess. Again.

Fuckers. The lot of you.

Oi, whoops. Well, at least you know there won't be any glaring glitches.

Either that or... uh... Square's being mean to its fanboys again.

Oblivion will be good, but ehh... Not sure. It looks damn pretty, that is a given, but I'll wait to see how it actually plays before I go nuts. If it's just Morrowind, but shinier, I may give it a pass...

Now Daggerfall, that's another issue... I wish I could find a full copy of that game... An oldy but a goody.

Fable still going strong... The Arena is the most badass challange yet, and I'm really close to completing my Bright Platemail set...

The full copy of Daggerfall isn't as good as you think. Trust me, I own it. Fast travel is necessary because the scenery is boring, with the occasional rock or tree. Dungeons randomly generate, which would be good if not for

a) They randomly generate anywhere from the size of Denver, Colorado to the size of Canada,
b) The exit door is a tiny closet that doesn't really stick out in any way so you'll never find it once you find
c) the objective of the dungeon, which is placed at some random location somewhere in the Canadasized dungeon where you'll never find it.

You can spend months looking for a book for a quest. Then give up. Then realize you can't find the exit door and have to start over from the beginning.

Additionally, the game is error-laden. It will completely reboot your system anywhere between two minutes after you start and an hour after you start.

I read that the game world is huge. Those problems sound pretty reasonable for a game that tries to be massive.

I would also imagine that there are patches for the game.

Course I never actually played it.

The game world is very huge. Sadly, it's also very boring. Quests, for example, range from "Go take this potion to my friend in the other town you can Fast Travel to instantly" to "Go kill a bear at such and such's house". Except, occasionally, you get a "Go kill such and such in such and such dungeon". In which case, if you actually follow through with it, you get lost in the dungeon and never get out because the randomly generated dungeon, as stated above, is the size of Canada.

It's an oooold game, and I only played the Demo, but even the demo was huge. It allowed you access to something like 5 cities, a variety of lesser shrines and towns, and a good variety of lesser quests on one tiny island. You could join a variety of Guilds and Churchs, sort of like Morrowind, and you got quests to raise your rank and benafits like being able to create spells, enchant weapons/armor, and sleep in the dorms (Useful because you had a Sleep/Energy bar, and when it ran out you passed out, and it only restored through sleep).

My favorite quest had me walk into a store I used all the time, and was attacked by mercenarys. The store owner said I would pay for something I'd stolen, and once I defeated the mercs and fled, the guards chased me out of town. I was able to sneak back into town and learned that I was framed, and after getting back the stolen loot and clearing my reputation, I had a chance to chase down the criminal...

... And then I stumbled on the Dungeon problem Terra brought up. I literally spent days in ONE dungeon, trying to even find the person, before I gave up and restarted my game from a place where I'd cleared my rep, but hadn't entered the dungeon. Dungeons are the bane of that game...

Personally, I liked the game because I never left the main city, and had a ton of fun. Killing burglers, tracking down magical critters, defeating street thugs, and looting buildings in the night only to sell back their merchandise during the day while keeping choice bits for myself, while saving up to buy my own house (And stealing my own horse)... Good times, good times...

The hobbs cave. you can get mass experiance running back and forth through there, as long as you have the ring explosion spell. me and my friend were trying to get the multiplyer as high as possible to open that damned door.

I never bothered with most of the doors.

but that door contains the best (looking) sword!

also, money? PFFT. Thats what thevery is for.

I liked fable. I wish my computer could run the pc version so I could see what they added.

Oh... FZ another trick you should try, go outside the guild hall, and go into trophy presentation mode, but before you do, use the shovel. each time you do, 10 or 20 people show up. see how many you can show your trophy to.

They added two spells (Divine Fury for Good people, Infernal something-or-other for Evil people), and they added a winter themed area that I haven't gone to yet... Other then that, I don't know what they added. And I don't think that works anymore, I go to boast and try to do it, but no new NPCs seem to show up...

However, I got most of my Bright Platemail (Need the leg parts, I'm substituiting Bright Chainmail for now), and I have the money to get my Master Weapon and fully upgrade it (Slot it for Sharpening, Piercing, and Lightning), now I'm just fighting over which Master weapon to get. The Longsword is a good balanced weapon, but enemies tend to block it a lot, while the Greatsword is slower and trickier to use (Enemies tend to get in hits while I'm winding up the slow blows) but it does a LOT more damage, and enemies don't seem to be able to block it as much...

Also, is there any way to get rid of scars, or slow the ageing process? My character is ridiculously old at this point, and I don't think I'm near the end of the game, although the pieces seem to slowly be sliding into place (Also, does anyone else think it's silly that only you age? Seriously, the Guildmaster is still alive and kicking, Thunder hasn't aged a day, Maze looks the same as ever, but I'm as old as Methuselah...)...

you can trade in your good karma for yourth at the temple in the forest if I recall correctly. or you can sacrifice people at the evil temple... kinda foggy on that.

and yes it is redicioulous, I just assume they are cashing in good karma for youth.

I can offer gifts of Money at the temple in the forest, but all my money is precious. I'll just grow old gracefully, then buy back my stolen youth later when I've got cash to spare.

Damn. wish I could remember that good karma trick. I remember summoning a billion people to the town square then blasting them with the ring of fire spell for millions of bad karma one time. the trick to it is you have to be standing very near the pedistool when you dig.

Had so many people there it was causing the x-box to slow down.

thing is, half of them would run off... then I'd do the trick again and THESE PEOPLE WOULD COME BACK! Its insane really! "Oooh that nice maniacal mage is showing off his wasp head trophy! that's always fun!" "But Dear, He killed half of us when we showed up last time!" "So? whats a trophy party without a few hundred people dying!" Stupid stupid sheep.

You do realise its free now.... right?

At the very least it was on this month PC Zone UK coverdisk.

Which reminds me, I really should get around to looking at that.

Edit: Scratch that, its Arena.... arse.

Arena was the game before Daggerfall (If Daggerfall is old, Arena is an antique), and to the best of my knowledge it wasn't as good, although I never tried it.

The only likely place I know of to find Daggerfall, free or otherwise, only gives a link to "Contact Bethesda Softworks"...
