Well, now I know when I'll buy a DS.

Unless the price drops before then. In which case I'm getting advanced wars and attacking my friends' armies.
Hey, the comic seems to be updating kind of regularly. Maybe we should vote to spread the word.

So...

Ultimate Spider-Man

The most fun I've had with a game that's NOT an RPG in a LOOONG time. Whether it's chasing after that bastard, The Beetle, as Spider-Man, or just fucking things up hardcore as Venom, this game kicks nine point nine kinds of ass.

If you like comics, Spider-Man, or just video games in general, buy it now.

...dear god, I hope you're joking. Ultimate Spider-Man is basically Spider-Man 2 Lite. It's five hours long and they've cut out everything that made Spider-Man 2 entertaining by simplifying the controls to the point that a kitten could beat up the bad guys. Everything that was about skill and techniques and webswinging is now just meaningless button mashing. ~_~

Well, considering I never PLAYED Spider-Man 2...I guess I'll enjoy that even more.

And regular, MV. $50 was pushing it, $60's a dealbreaker...

Yes, you will.

I think what bugs me the most about Ultimate Spidey is that it's so friggin' short, and the side events aren't really entertaining enough. The Combat Tours are fun, but sorely limited, and the Races...well, this is just my opinion, but aside from racing Torch, the races are pointless, and the fact that they're REQUIRED just makes it evil.

I greatly enjoyed the boss fights, though. I miss Spidey's old Spider Sense from SM2, in which there was a dodge button specifically for dodging enemy attacks, rather than "Jump out of the way!" He's Spider-Man, not Frog-Man. Spidey is so much cooler when he's flipping and dodging and webbing around Doc Ock'c tentacles than when he's leaping like a grasshopper around Green Goblin, but that's just my opinion.

UGH. Doc Ock. That's why I swore never to restart my game--

I have the worst memory in the world...

I need to know
If the world says it's time to go
Tell me will you freak out?

I still thought the dodging aspect was cool.

It is. Not so much when you're trying to shut down the nine terminals, while Doc is trying to throw you in the water for a TKO.

Yeah, that part was awful. But the point I was trying to make was about the dodging aspect. One thing they dumbed down in Ultimate Spider-Man is that you can't dodge anymore. Now, you just get a tingling Spider Sense lines coming out of Spidey's head, and if you see those, you should jump out of the way.

So got two new games today. The Sims Makin' Magic, and Dawn of War: Winter Assault (Two more opposite games, I find it hard to think up...).

Makin' Magic is the same ole' when it comes to Sim stuff. It does change around the gameplay considerably, but I realized the problem with The Sims. It's not that they add all sorts of cool stuff, it's that you have NO TIME for this cool stuff. Between keeping your basic requirements fulfilled (Eating, sleeping, fun, etc.), and going to your job, you have no time for anything else. There's not time to run off to the Magic Town to buy new ingrediants and experiment with spells as well as balance everything else... Plus having a Night Job sucks majorly when it comes to raising your Social bar...

But the other game... Winter Assault... Ohh Baneblade, where have you been all my life... Is, is this what love feels like? Seriously, when your one Baneblade wades into a titanic army of Chaos and proceeds to mop the floor with every single one of them single handedly, you'll know it's love... I want to try out the other factions and their new units, but I just love the Imperial Legion and the Baneblade too much to stop playing as them... Not only that, but with the Upgrades you get to Guardsmen, and with Karskin and Ogrin, your infantry aren't nearly as weak as they first seem (Although the total lack of Anti-vehicle weapons amongst the infantry is horribly painful).

This is why, FZ, you look for player made content.. I forget where, but I found a spot where a guy had made a "re-energizer." It was basically a showered modified to fill all your needs when you got in. It was sweet. Staying up all night reading/playing video games/upping your social skills? Pop in and BAM! You're back on boardwalk baby!

And, um.. Get a room!

So wait, FZ, you got stuff for the Sims, and not the Sims 2? Man! You're really missing out on the virtual depictions of frat kegger parties!

I wanna get sims altogether. I've only ever gotten to play me bro's version (of both 1 AND 2). I'd buy sims2, but it never dropped in price. It still goes for 50-60 bucks around here.

but it's been out like a year!

Shouldn't they like, drop price so that people (read: cheap bastards who could buy it anyways but don't want to) like me will buy it?

I haven't been as interested in the Sims 2, because I prefer the more wacky stuff that Sims 1 has to offer (Livin' Large, Makin' Magic) over the more bland stuff Sims 2 has to offer.

Hey, in the Sims does the grim reaper, after killing off your entire family, sit around your house, mooch your food, and watch your tv whilst napping on the couch? I think not! Does the sims have crazy alien face shit? I think not! Does the Sims have crazy four person orgies in hot tubs?! I think not!!

Plus, the really wacky stuff in the sims took a while.

Okay, the Grim Reaper thing is awsome, but the rest of that is meh...

In the Sims 1, I can have a robot clean my house while I go off to my career as a hacker, and then come back and turn that annoying guy I hate into a toad using magic. That's pretty fun...

Of course, I've been playing a lot more Winter Assault anyway... But tomarrow I'll look into mods for The Sims...

Hmmm.... Fileplanets got some more gameplay footage of Oblivion... and it looks very interesting.

I suspect it will make my machine groan..... but it looks very very interesting, but I do have some minor niggles. From what I see, the NPC's haven't changed much. They're still able to open doors with sheer force of will, and their interaction with the world is a bit dodgy, but if the AI is half as good as they say it is, I think I can forgive that. (Please note, I do understand that this may be an unfinished engine, but I can only comment on what I see) On the flipside, however, if the AI creates people as dysfunctional as that book seller, I'm probably going to spend most of my game cowering in a celler from all the psychos.

But again, the engine looks very good..... but the fact that the forests are generated in real time strikes fear into me....
