Any word against CC's soundtrack and smiting will occur... Just picked up the first Shadow Hearts for £10. My brother had it but I never managed to get to the end before I moved away. I bought the second one a while ago too. Love it so fart even though I've not played it much. For the doubters: Shadow Hearts. Rocks. End of discussion. |

Alright, guys, let me handle this. As we all know, I'm very talented at being harsh at ripping things apart. ![]() First, the characters were meaningless. Two or three had depth to them, the rest were just wacky hijinx to throw into the mix, each with their own wacky accent and lack of personality. Secondly, the game didn't need to be a Chrono game. It felt like they only made it a Chrono game because they wanted something to make people buy it, because the plot alone would not suffice. The plot didn't make any sense, the very concept of the FATE supercomputer was...dubious at best, Lynx...was kinda like Mordy, but not even half as well as she does it. The dragons were okay, until the end when they show you just how stupid and gullible you are. Which reminds me: the main characters are stupid and gullible. Repeatedly. And then the final boss never needed to exist. The Dragon God was a beautiful final boss. That should've been the end. The Devourer of Time is both an innately stupid concept, and felt like they just wanted to rush ahead and resolve the longest standing conflict, the disappearance of Schala, even though it didn't fit into the plot at any point. The Time Crash felt like a ripoff of Sphere, and I don't even want to try to understand why those floating head bosses were even in the Sea of Eden to begin with, aside from, "Ooh, look, weird boss fight". There was no sufficiently explained reason to include Belthazar. Melchior, maybe, but not Belthazar. Even Gaspar would've made more sense. The absence of Magus was a tangible loss. If they must insist on tying Schala to the plot, Magus SHOULD have been there. And no, I'm not talking about that pathetic magician with no magical power whatsoever and a big floating stick. I mean...a boy who lived in a fishing village all his life had more magical power than Guile. He is not Magus. That's an entirely other rant. The ghosts of Crono, Marle, and Lucca...again, something that didn't really need to happen. It was kinda saddening, and also confusing (why the heck were they adolescents?), but mostly, it felt like they were just trying to hammer home, "Everyone's dead. Be sad." I've got more, but this is a good place to stop for now. |

My own opinion is that Serge was to Magus what Kidd was to Schala. As for the floating heads, I think that they were a security system for the place you sneak into. |

An interesting security system, considering they guarded a mystical portal that took you to another dimension. And here I thought dimensional travel was difficult, but apparently FATE's had her claws in the alternate dimension longer than it has existed. |

To Terra: Remember all the save points in the game was how Fate was controling everyone. And about the portal thing, remeber Clarks Law. "Sufficiently advanced technology is indistigushable from magic". |

It still leaves a gaping plot hole. Serge lived in one world, died in the other. They needed Serge to access the Frozen Flame, but clearly Lynx, Fate, and the Dragon Gods were all unaware that there was a dimension in which Serge was alive. Had they known, they would've been there to take him. Either they didn't know, or they couldn't access it. Either way, this means that FATE's presence in the Sea of Eden with the machines that guard the portal between the dimensions cannot exist. |

Were did you get the idea that none of them knew he was alive, or that they didn't get the whole split universes thing. I mean for one thing Lynx knew who serge was (the arbiter) and what exactly that meant. The dragons all seemed to know who he was. Plus the dragons themselfs were split between the two dimensions, yet they were able to travel dimensions to joint together to make the dragon god so they must have been able to cross dimensions. |

Of course they knew who he was. But either FATE didn't know he was alive somewhere, or FATE did know he was alive somewhere and couldn't reach him. Either way, if FATE had known, Lynx would've been knocking down his door just as he did to Lucca. |

It probably did know where he was it just didn't have any reason to collect him yet. Add to that the fact that they need Serge alive (or at least his body) to have access to the frozen flame which as of the begining of the game only the arbiter had. So if Lynx kills him then they loose the nigh unlimited power gained from the frozen flame. |

O.o Why would Lynx kill him? What are you talking about? Let me make this as clear as I possibly can. Serge is the arbiter. Serge is needed to access the Frozen Flame. FATE wants the Frozen Flame. Therefore, FATE needs Serge. Serge is dead. FATE can't have the Frozen Flame. If Serge is alive and FATE knows it, Send Lynx to Serge's house. Lynx takes Serge by force. Serge is used to open up the Prometheus Lock. FATE has Frozen Flame. FATE's victory is assured. Now...this never happened. |

Maybe Lynx got sent to the other dimension and could not make his way back. There was no evidence that he personaly had the ability to cross dimesions, and the first time you meet him is in the alternate dimension. |

Congratulations, you have discovered the plothole I mentioned already. Because Lynx has a way back: the Sea of Eden. FATE, Lynx, has a portal between the two dimensions that he can access at any time. He's apparently even set up security at it. |

1) there is no way to get into eden in the alternate world. 2) the portal wasn't active untill the time crash was destroyed. These two fact combined tells us that there is no way for Lynx to have gotten back to the home universe. |

what do you mean? the battle system was great, you start with 7 stamina, and then different things cost different amounts of stamina. It added an extra level of strategy to the battles. Maybe it made it frustrating for you guys, but it made the battles actually enjoyable for me. |
