San andreas.... I'm torn with this one... I can't beat the stupid ddr minigame... but I like shooting whores.....

See, I didn't have a problem with either one.

Then again, I ignored the beat and paid closer attention to when the symbol lined up in the circle.

I wanna see them do a FF game like 6 again, where they actually juggle main characters till EVERYONE has a fricking backstory and past that has a definitive plotline....

FFX: Never played it, but it seemed to be that Auron was a pure fighter, whereas Tidus was also a Time Mage (and if I am totally off-base, correct me, please). Considering the utility of time magic, you can't really go on 'most damage dealt' for an indication of 'stronger'.

Chrono Trigger: Magus was optional, for one. And Crono was STILL powerful... both physically and magically. *shrug*. I didn't use him in my final party either.

Chocobo Dungeon 2: Uh... never even HEARD of it.

edit: And I wouldn't say 9 really had a very satisfying plotline for each character... in fact, I'd say it definitely didn't.

Yes. Like 9.

Except good.

EDIT: Wha-haaaa? You never heard of Chocobo's Dungeon 2?

Point. But Tidus' default path distinctly went through Time Magic...

bah, 9 was good.

just because it wasn't exactly like 6 or exactly like 7 doesn't mean it wasn't good, it just means that it was a different good.

7 was less about classes and more about materia/limit breaks...

...oddly enough, I agree with Newb; I liked FFIX too... although maybe my opinion doesn't matter too much, since it was my third RPG... (the first two being FFVI and Lunar, not in that order).

Not that I've played all that many since... ah well.

Now Atelier Iris, that was a disappointing game.

I though 9 was okay, but I liked 4 and 6 MUCH better...

And 10? *shudder*

Different does not always mean good. In this case, it meant bad. Hell, I like 8 AND 10 more then I like 9. 9 is the worst FF ever.

And Tidus' strength isn't his Time Magic, he's supposed to be a frontline fighter. You don't carry a hugeass sword just to cast magic.

Not much love for FFIX, I see. Well, I'll hold off on THAT subject for the moment and discuss the one at hand.

As for weak main characters, I'd say Fire Emblem or FFT, but tactical RPGs tend to be too different to use.

In Xenosaga, Shion was the main character(IMO) and she was decidedly outclassed by the others, up until she got Erde Kaiser, but that doesn't count.

Yeah, but he still HAS the magic... and hell, I don't know. I haven't played FFX. It just seems to me that as a general rule, the 'main character' is the most powerful.

...besides, Fayt enchants his swords with elements on the go. That's just cool. Even if it's not all that powerful.

Yes a diffrent special olympics style of good. Now don't get me wrong, I think they had the right Idea in the game for like the forst 10 minutes, but as soon as you escape the swamp of pointy things they lost it.... Thats when the characters no longer seem like characters but bad steriotypes... I quit shortly aster the Fat chef chick joined the party...

edit baroned, but the point still stands...

Woa woa woa everyone seems to have overlooked Cid (cant spell his 'O' name right now) from FFT!

He is much stronger than the main character.

Also, Phantom Brave, Marona is the main character but Ash is stronger.

>.> Ok strategy RPGs might not count as much, Ill get back to you on standard RPG heroes losing in stats.

As for FF(, I liked it even though it was a rehash of 4 5 and 6. Seriously it was the same characters mixed around with similar plots through the stry.

EDIT DAMN you nott.... 8x baron.

I thought that kosmos was the main character

It's possible to see it that way. Hence the IMO(In my opinion).

I've always enjoyed IX...

EDIT: Dem, *I* pointed out FFT. And yes, Ramza was a wimp compared to Thundergod Cid.

I'm not sure that quima had a gender...

and heck, the gourmand was my favorite character!

it annoyed me that it kept dissapearing at the worst of times!

EDIT: and before anybody mentions the marraige scene, consider this: the point was that it was supposed to be awkward. a character we're not even sure is alive and an androgenous chef getting married is hilarious
