Samus...I don't know. Maybe it's just me, but too many characters just doesn't feel right for Samus. Samus does not play well with others.

Thats like, the problem in reverse! The hero changes each game but the villain doesn't. Of course, its the immortal Dracula so theres kind of an EXCUSE.

Edit: Have you considered this is a chance for character growth for Samus? The long time loner, thrust into a situation where she MUST deal with others?

Even Megaman is better!
Now we have X, Zero, and Exe storylines.... they remain repetitive within themselves but at least we have the options!

If by "better", you mean "much much worse," I'll agree with you.

In a game style where the whole point is to run around blowing the crap out of the others?

Well, the POTENTIAL is there anyways <_<

BAH! If you look at the Megaman series as a WHOLE its better than samus. Any subseries and it looks like crap.

Some games simply don't need big plots. It can actually hurt action games more than it can help.

Why not. Just cause you have to shoot things there's no reason the story can't show changes in her character.

Counterpoint: Half-Life 2. Best action game I've played in recent memory.

And where this not a game based solely around multiplayer, perhaps it would happen. If the singleplayer campaign, the plot and the story, were the central focus, then there would be much room for grand plot and character development. Starting to see why I don't like games styled specifically for multiplayer?

You have a point. This could be an opportunity for Nintendo to mess up badly.

From Russia With Love is FUN.

You heard me. It's simple combat engine operates like GTA (One button to aim, another to shoot, in FRWL it's L and R).

But then you get into the special combat. The stealth move is taken straight from GTA, but you don't just use a knife, you can club the unsuspecting foe with any weapon.

Also, when aiming, you can enter "Bond Focus" mode by pressing B, which displays multiple targets on the enemy you're aiming for (A guard has a radio? Shoot it and THEN shoot him!)

The game relies on a healthy mix of stealth and action. Unlike GTA, where the stealth is tacked on for one or two missions, and unlike MGS, where the action scenes are a pain in the ass to manage with the stealth controls, FRWL is Bond.

... Yeah, I've only played for half an hour. My only complaint is that the multiplayer is only for Bond villains. You can unlock the likes of Goldfinger, Dr. No, Jaws, etc. with points (you get points for doing cool shit). But I wanted to play Bond, dammit.

In between missions, you can upgrade Bond with skill points (well, upgrade his weapons and gadgets). And, hidden throughout the levels are secret outfits. So far, I've found the white dinner jacket one (It's in Moneypenny's office).

It's a great game so far. Oh! And each level has a Bond Moment objective, listed somewhere in the pause menu. Completing it earns you a fuckton of points. For instance, in one level, there's a shootout with a bunch of guys hiding behind a car. The Bond Moment for the level is shooting the gas barrel next to the car and letting your foes die from the resulting explosion.

I didn't like them. Mainly because I couldn't shake the thought, "If you can compress an entire game to this size, why not use a real disc and make it BIGGER?" And then Resident Evil came out, with TWO minidiscs, and I rubbed my forehead at that because, like I stated before, just use a real disc and make it bigger. Then you don't need TWO minidiscs.

The best part is charging your enemies, shooting at them. Get close enough, and you'll be prompted to press B, A, X, or Y and finish the guy Bond style (flipping him, etc.).

I would have no idea. It would not surprise me if they just blended EVERY ACTION GAME EVER to get the right James Bond.
