So Soul Caliber 3 has a character customizarion system. Among the outfits you can eventually ulock is a full Kos-Mos outfit.

I made a Kos-Mos dancer, and am right now having lots of fun playing as a Kos-Mos Voldo.

Lostfactor.net's "Badass and Dumbass of the Month", January 2003. He picks Sephiroth for "badass", then proceeds to prove that there is absolutely no basis for this beyond "Uh...he's cool! Yeah!", yet sticks to his claim.

Quote:

As were most characters in the game, Sephiroth was given a ludicrously specialized weapon for his personal usage. Cloud was give a sword that looked more like a club and seemed like it would be far beyond the ability of his little girly arms to even lift. Barret had a gun grafted onto his arm, which amazingly enough must have been a common enough occurence for every shopkeeper in the world to stock versions of it. Sephiroth's contribution to this parade was the long sword. However, when I say "long," I mean this in the sense of "holy fuck, how the hell could you sheathe that thing" long. It's twice as long as he is tall, and therefore takes the prize for the most obviously useless weapon in the game. Still, since he seems to have no problem swinging it around and running it through the torsos of women [3], I suppose it's kind of silly to fault it for being far beyond a useful size.

I'd discuss Sephiroth's powers here, except that would require the game to have explained or demonstrated them at some point in the game in a reliable fashion. As it is, you either ignore the stuff he does in the battle sequences, which makes him a tall white-haired guy that just carries a really farking long sword and can make really bright flashes of light, or you pay attention to the battle sequences, in which case he can destroy the galaxy, mutate into huge forms at will, and does all manner of things that should logically have ennabled him to just kill the party and take the Black Materia half an hour into the game. Neither option really explains why it is that everyone's so blasted frightened of him - in the first case, you just get a few guys with shotguns that are standing far enough away, and he's dead, and in the second case he ought to have already destroyed the planet anyways. He's apparently been blessed with powers so mysterious that they've decided not to show them to us, which is all well and good but makes this column a little difficult to flesh out.

So then it's logical to talk about what Sephiroth is... but, well, once again, the game doesn't exactly give us everything we need to know. He's definitely some sort of genetic hybrid thingamajig [4], but he gets about twenty different supposed sources, so by the end of the game I had to compile a list of sorts. As near as I can figure, he's half-human, half-Cetra, half-monster, half-alien, half-creepy chick that hides behind a waterfall, half-Mankey, half-and-half, half-ling, half-elf, and half-iMac. Those of you paying attention would realize that this means he has ten halves. If this gives you a headache, good. I know that a humor column is successful when it prompts people into contradictory mathetmatics and headaches.

At any rate, I'm sure you see now why Sephiroth's power is inexplicable. Well, okay, it's probably very explainable - it's just that Squaresoft didn't bother to explain it themselves, and therefore anything I said would just involve making things up off the top of my head.

Hey, come to think of it, that's a great idea. So, as I was saying, the defining moment for Sephiroth was the time that he tore apart EVA-01 and Tokyo Tower with the help of a gigantic claw-arm carved from the hide of Fu Leng himself...

Well, okay, maybe not. But Sephiroth is a badass, even if we're utterly unclear about how, or why, or any of the details that might somehow enable this to be even remotely convincing.

*sweatdrop* it's a humour column...he says it's meant to be humerous... still that's a lot of text for someone without a real point...
Mrs. Limburger : Crashing, and banging, all kinds of weird noises. Howling, moaning, frightful grunting, things falling out of closets, all over the place!

Peter : Sounds like my weekend.

And it is quite humorous. I just found that particular part amusing and felt the need to share it. Particularly since that's actually the most coherent defense of Sephiroth I've ever read. Which...isn't really saying much.

The characters I like are the Barbarian and Saint jobs for SC3. The saint because it has the most interesting staff skills of any fighter.

Custom staff is a funny weapon, but I've found it to be mostly innafective. Great to watch though.

I did training mode for the first time since getting the game. Went through all of Takis moves. About the only thing I need to remember that I didnt already use is a nasty launcher+aird throw.

And its so funny having a Kos-mos Voldo. If it makes you feel any better I also get to use Kos-Mos Xiangua (sp?).

Hence the irony in that it's the most coherent I've ever seen.

So, I've decided to look into renting another game. But this time, I decided to mix things up. Instead of renting something that looked very interesting (due to the fact that everything very interesting was either out or I already finished it), I decided to rent two somethings that looked mildly interesting. And, to help them balance each other out, I decided to look into two completely opposite extremes.

The checker at Blockbuster gave me this "...w...t...f...." look when he saw my choices, and it probably didn't help my "I'm not psycho, honest!" claim that I just kinda stood there with an off smile on my face. What choices?

Pokemon XD: Gale of Darkness
True Crime: New York City

Time to see how crime games compare to innocent childish fun.

I've heard mixed reviews about XD. Figured I might as well give it a shot myself.

Besides, I enjoyed Final Fantasy X. That alone tells me I have different tastes than most.
