Damn, I forgot how totally awsome Legend of Mana was. I have no clue why, but this is one of the only games that's ever made me want to complete it repetedly (Taking it's place alongside Crono Trigger and Metal Gear Solid 1). The stories are a little fragmented, but the Jewel Theif storyline is to this day one of my favorites in a game ever... Also, the quest to craft the Ultimate Sword is one that I'm happy to embark on. Unlike most games, you actually have to make the Ultimate weapon in this game out of all parts you collect, which is totally awsome. The Armor is the same way, but I don't seem to need as much armor as I need damage dealing capability... Raising Pets, Building Golems, and crafting your own Spell Instruments are just gravy on the excellent package. |

PS1, but even for a PS1 game it's pretty old. You might have trouble finding it. |

I don't think it was all that popular, either. I remember seeing it... wasn't as impressed as FZ... |

I like the customization options more then anything. You can literally customize everything. Any item you find, you could create yourself with the proper materials. I'm not big on farming materials, but when you can make, name, and temper your own weapons and armor to give you exactly the bonuses you want and outdo anything you can find, I have to give a game credit. Most games want you to find ultimate weapons, very little let you make them yourself (And most that have you make them force you to do it in a storyline-based way. Here you literally forge it from random materials whenever you feel like). It wasn't that popular, but I just like it. |

What?! It had an AWESOME battle system, you could make your own weapons and armour, the spell system was really cool, the enemies and bosses were pretty good, the characters were pretty good, I enjoyed MOST of the puzzles, and the really shitty ones you can skip if you hoard snow fly wings, it had a big environment to roam in, and it had a really good story. The first run is just really grueling in difficulty. It takes a little getting used to. |

(EDIT: Ledgend of Mana)You chose what gender your character is-which is cool and all but theres little to no plot behind you. You go to the various places in the game in a random order. Saying the plot is fragmented is an understatement. Combat is fun, but I thought it was better in SoM persoanally. Liked the music though. Square messes up a lot of games, but at least they still get good music. |

Meh, I just didn't like it. Played up to the first boss, and found no reason why I wanted to keep playing. And the story is fragmented, but still enjoyable. The lesser stories get kind of tedious, but the three Epic stories, despite being fragmented, are still incredible, with the Jewel storyline being the best of the three. Combat is sort of fun, but more frustrating in how hard it can be to hit enemies if they are a fraction higher or lower. Magic and Specials are well implemented though. I play it more for the customization aspect then the actual gameplay. Acheiving totally unique gear is more satisfying then when I need to use it. And the music is possibly some of the best in a Square game. |

O_o you dismissed a game, no, an RPG, before you got to the part where the gameplay gets complex?! *falls over* Incidentally, are you quite sure legend of mana didn't come out for GBA recently? I could've sworn I saw it.... Vagrant Story also had really good music... |

I don't think GBA could handle Legend of Mana graphics... On GBA? Are you sure it wasn't a re-release of Secret of Mana? EDIT: I actually don't like the gameplay of most RPGs, I like the stories and characters. |

I'm not sure, FZ. I'd need to poke around. Um, the story and characters get pretty complicated, too. Well, the protagonist and the seeming villian's.... and I can only play action RPG's to thier end... pure RPGs I bail on after 20 hours or so. The longest I ever lasted with one was like 33, and that was Tales of Phantasia, my favourite RPG ever.... |

A story can be complicated without being good... I dunno, nothing I saw of the plot from that early bit intrigued me in any way. *Shrug* It just didn't do it for me. And a good RPG I can sink a lot of time into... My FFVI game had about 30 hours on it, and my Chrono Trigger game probably has at least 50, although I haven't played it in forever. |

You don't really start getting any idea of the plot to vagrant story untill 2-4 hours in. Even then all the hints are misleading. It's actually rather fascinating. It was too hard for me on a first run, but I made my friend who owned it play it so I could see the story and stuff. Mm, I see. I just feel pure RPGs are too passive and repetitive.... *shruggs* |

Your definition of "A lot of time" and mine are completely different. My first play of FFVI was 54 or so hours, my third was 24 almost exactly. Disgaea, ~250. Maka Kingdom, beat at 33, now 70 in. BoF seems to get shorter every game, and that makes me sad. Not as sad as Dragon Quarter made me but still... Also Legend of mana you don't have allis, I like having a party. |

Well, you could have 2 allies, like Secret of Mana. One pet/golem, and one NPC (Normally the NPCs are given to you for only one mission, but if you complete a Story Arc, you can go back and re-acquire the NPCs any time you want). |
