I maintain that Kirby reigns supreme in SSB. A few of the others match him for a while, but he's ridiculously awesome at the "very new" and "very practiced" stages in the learning curve. Never liked the GC version, though. The occasional absence of the 1P sign made me lose track of my guy too much in chaos-heavy games (and what other kinds were there?), and I could never figure out the weird way they did throws...

in ssbm, roy is incredibly broken'd in some maps.

you just sit there and do your upthrust and then drop down through the floor again.

the upthrust kills most characters in one or two hits, so if there's no way to get at him from the sides, he's invincible.

You tap Z near the person (or decently near if you're Link or Samus), and then hold a direction. If it's the direction opposite the one you're facing, you get a stronger throw.

As for Ness, I never got the hang of his final jump. You know, where you're supposed to guide his psi blast under him.

Kirby's fun, although copying people's B moves serves no purpose except to further annoy them.

I like annoying people with Kirby.

Ness only has two jumps, whereas all the others have three.

He just jumps higher in those two.

What you are calling his final jump is more meant to be used sitting on the ground in an out of the way place. You then control the direction of the blast.

In jungle jape, choose anybody you like, and fight ness 1on1 level 9, thne don't move at all.

he'll die trying to do a third jump he doesn't have.

and with link or samus, the z thing can be used to grab cliff edges as well when you are falling.

The Psi ball 3rd jump that Ness has can be done, you just need to quickly bring the ball around immidiatly after you release it in order to get it under you. It is sill hard to do. Heck I can only do it about half the time.
When I'm bored, I like to wander around and cast X-Zone on random things.

I'm with Big, Kirby in SSB is a small pink GOD. I've won matching just by spamming his piledriver-throw.

Sadly, in SSBM, he got nerfed SO much...

Also, Newb? Yoshi doesn't have a third jump either, you know.

Rented Shadow the Hedgehog and Star Wars Battlefront II, between those and PSO, It should be pretty fun.

Don't expect too much of Shadow.

It's a shame my psuedo-namesake isn't a great game. Fortunately, my name isn't really based on the based on the Sonic the Hedgehog character, so no harm is done to my own reputation :P

And has anyone had a chance to play Sonic Rush? It looks decent, though I may be wrong...

Hooray for Kirby fans!

I just like him for his ability to beat the living shit of of that cocky bastard who just picked up the hammer with his rock drop move. Traded away the ability to double jump, did you, sucker? I also actually prefer his vaccuum suck to nearly any of the other characters' B move - great if someone thinks they can charge at you. Plus, my playing style involves throwing lots of random items, and 100 ft in the air is a great place to do it from. Tack onto that the awesomeness of nailing a guy with the three-hit air blade combo, and I don't think he can be topped.

What I really want to come out, though is a Zelda game or something for the Revolution. I've been waiting for ages for a good swordfighting simulator.

I've always been a good Link player. Link is the god of war. @.@ So many weapons, so much versatility. Even his bombs are devastating if you learn to use them properly. And I've learned to pick someone off with an arrow no matter WHERE they are.

young link is far better.

the fire arrows stun the opponent, giving them usefulness even at close range.

Something about Young Link just didn't reach me. I think it's the lack of range with his sword and the childish look to him. This was not the Link I grew up with. Hmph!

...seriously, that's the only thing I disliked about the N64 Zelda games, turning Link into a toddler.

meh, I'm willing to put up with the lost reach and power in exchange for greater speed and fire arrows.

that's really adult link's major problem, that while he's pulling stuff out of his bag somebody could be bashing him.

Link's a second fav, followed closely by Mario and Samus. Thing is that I nearly always play on 200% damage with a million items, so the individual combat moves never quite get the same importance as mobility and aerial manuevering.

Although, its also a shitload of fun to beat obnoxious bragging friends as Jigglypuff.

I'm probably going to be scorned for this, but meh...

I never really got into SSBM, or most GC games for that matter, since I could never adapt myself to the Gamecube's controller. I've tried playing SSBM quite a few times, but each time spent as much time looking at the controller trying to figure out where particular buttons are as I was looking at the TV. Considering the fast pace of the game, this pretty much guarantees a loss. :/
