or like in kotor 2 where the guy gets angry and calls for the gaurds, or like in ff9 where if you steal the old lady's life savings of 10 gil then you don't get an uberweapon from her later. |

Or in the Ultima game for NES where every time you steal, lie, kill a peasant it sets back your ability to complete the game for a few hours. |
Hey, the comic seems to be updating kind of regularly. Maybe we should vote to spread the word.

Just rented Jak X: Combat Racing, and am praying that the plot is more towards Jak 2's really cool plot, rather than following in the footsteps of Jak 3, which goes in the Hall of Shame alongside Sonic Heroes. |

You're really expecting an impressive plot from a racing game? I mean, it's possible, but I've yet to see it happen. The story isn't usually the high point of games in that genre. Emphasis is put on the pure competition factor of the game...

One thing that called my attention is that they boast a detailed continuation of the Jak and Daxter legacy. So I decided to give it a shot. |

The opening movie already speaks well for it. Jak and Daxter are their unmutilated versions from Jak 2, before the writer of Jak 3 screwed up the characters. |

I have never understood the whole Red Scare that is "angst" in the gaming community. Any time a character shows any emotion other than being a hyperactive, happy twelve-year-old, everyone screams "ANGST" and the character is hated. |

Angst is fine in most cases.... but in the case of Jax and Daxter it was just totally uncalled for. |

I don't know much about angst in the Jak series specifically, since I've never played any of the Jak games (please don't hurt me!), but in general... As for what angst is, if that's what you're unsure about, I go with this definition:
I don't really consider it a problem, it's just entertaining to make fun of every once in a while, especially when a character is practically angst personified (i.e. Squall) ![]() The one exception to this would be if every significant character in a game were like that, and remained that way throughout the entire course of the game. Then it would get on my nerves, but the same could be said of excessively happy characters too. |

They haven't really done a whole lot of darkening, if you really pay attention. He's got his moments where he gets angry, but everyone gets angry. The only dark moments are when he actually transforms into Dark Jak. Otherwise, he's the same playful boy he was in Jak and Daxter. Did you even SEE his reaction to the jetboard? |

So... Been playing FFIV Advance for the GBA. I'm just about at the ending, and the game gives me the option to switch party members. Cid, Yang, Palom, Porom, and Edward are all available to play with. So, I've been experimenting with everyone for a bit, and I have to say, if Alex had ever played this game, the CSNES comic would be FAR, FAR less interesting. I can't believe I'm actually saying this, but...Edward is awesome. His command, "Heal" lets him use one potion to heal the entire party. Coupling that with "Hide" to keep him out of trouble, makes him an EXCELLENT support character. There's an optional dungeon built into Mt. Ordeals, where you get uber-weapons for your extra party members. Which is nice, but feels like a bit of a cop-out, considering you still have do a lot of crap to get the best gear and weapons for the original five. All in all, I'm throughly enjoying this game, and I definitely recommend it to anyone who likes FF. |

Haven't gotten it yet, unfortunatly. Still collecting summons and leveling in preperation for the bosses guarded the weapons on the Lunarian Moon. |
