Well, I personally don't really play the Metroid games for story in particular, anyway. Then again, I've never played Super Metroid, so maybe I just don't know what I'm missing... |

Honestly? I have no problems with Fusion alone, but combined with say, Echoes and the original Metroids... theres some ability redundancy going on here. Nevermind Phazon... But yeah, plot aside I think Fusion just did a better job with the atmosphere. Face it, the SNES game almost makes your eyes bleed its so ugly, and frankly play control was never a selling point for Metroid games for me(and Fusion still does the better job here, what with all the missiles and bombs in Super). Megaman just does the same job better. Period. |

I love the SNES game's graphics. >.> It feels so...creepy. No matter where you are in that place, it feels like you're in some monster-filled cavern of death. I think Norfair's probably my favorite, but then, my view's a bit tainted by the fact that's where Ridley makes his lair. Shadow, you haven't played Super? You are seriously missing out! Best Metroid plot ever, even if it doesn't come up much. Most emotional Metroid. Edit: Now that I think about it, that's another thing I didn't like about Fusion. The fact that you couldn't explore. Metroid thrives on exploration. You're given this huge environment, and you have to find your way around the place yourself. In Fusion, you're told where to go every step of the way, you can't backtrack, you can't do anything but follow this direct, linear path. It's the complete antithesis of everything that made Metroid great. |

I did find Fusion to be a fun game, but I didn't really like the storyline that well either. I think it's mostly because they sort of defined Samus' personality. Before, how she was like was more or less up to your imagaination... but in that game, it wasn't. For me, Super Metroid was the one that made me really like the series... because they introduced the map. While my brother eventually beat the first one (can't remember if we used one of the passwords or not), I could never find my way around the damn thing. Never tried the second one as neither of us had a gameboy. And while I was a bit dubious about the 3-D ones, I did like both of them ('though Prime 2 pissed me off more than once on a few things). |

I sort of liked Fusion the first time, except for the ending. Now I just find it too easy to blaze threw every event in sequence, begining to end. The ending though, while neat, looks like it means the DEATH of the metroid series. Hopefully, they'll find a way to fix this in MP3 (all music! All the time! :shot:) |

Super Metroid was the death of the series. Everything that was Metroid ended in Super Metroid. The Prime series did it right, and took themselves back to earlier in the story. Fusion, on the other hand, was just beating the dead horse.

Nah, I think that it's about time for Samus to have new enemies. I mean, she's fused with Metroids now, which makes them not a logical enemy. |

Neither does the fact that they're completely extinct. Those on their homeworld are extinct. The survivor, the last metroid, is dead. The Space Pirate clones? Wiped out when the planet exploded. There's nothing left. Which is why Metroid ends with Super Metroid. Because the very namesake is gone. |

NOT if the namesake is infused with Samus. The Metroids live on with Samus. Metroid V is going to be a new generation of Samus adventures. New suit, new ship (with a friendly computer guide), new enemy (possibl;y the Galactic Federation). |

I hope that her new suit is a new suit, and not the goopy, butt-ugly thing she wore in Fusion. I pray she loses the computer guide. The computer guide makes everything linear. Completely takes all the fun out of exploring the massive world that you land your ship on. I also hope they remove the inability to backtrack that Fusion had. New enemy could be interesting. But still...I really don't think they should call it Metroid if the Metroids are extinct. Nor should they try to resurrect them, as that would take all the meaning out of the last metroid in Super Metroid. |

... The new suit is a normal-colored (Samus's Varia suit) version of her Fusion Suit which she gets for defeating one of the SA-X. And her ship's guide doesn't necessarily have to go away... they can still have him and make it somewhat non-linear (like Metroid Prime). |

True. I didn't mind the guide in the Prime series, because it was far from linear. I also hope they stop trying to girly her up. Samus is a hardcore, hardass weapon of mass destruction. She kills. She kills, she destroys, sometimes she saves. She's a one-woman arsenal. I always felt that the reason we don't see much characterization for her is that there isn't much to do. She strikes me as a woman whose life is her job, a female Boba Fett, if you must compare her to something. This whole thing with Adam left a bad aftertaste in my mouth. It felt like they were trying to slowly turn her into Lara Croft. EDIT: Some people don't need romantic subplots. Sometimes, it can actually do harm. |

Don't you think the role of a female Boba Fett is a bit limiting for what is Videogame's main superheroine? She could be so much more than a random genocide machine(and personally, I don't like the overwhelming need for romantic subplots period). |

What would you have her become without detracting from the fact that she's a solo high-tech war machine? It's what she's always been. It's her thing. She's arguably the toughest character in video game history, and that's her thing. She's a warrior tough enough, hard enough, and ruthless enough to prove that being a badass warrior is NOT a man-dominated field. What would you have her be without diminishing that? The most horrifying thing about hardcore female protagonists is that the writers always pull a "Taming of the Shrew" on them. That's one of the reasons I love Samus. She has never and will never be "tamed". |

Uh... ok. But she murdered an entire species and if she gets her way she'll do the same to the pirates for revenge. Hardly the most heroic motives. Shouldn't role models have, y'know, morals? As for the whole male dominated field and the taming of the shrew thing, nobody says plot expansion HAS to include a romantic subplot.(and please, Adam is a computer for crying out loud, not to mention his destruction kinda killed the chance for a romantic subplot, being like her only link to humanity) |

Didn't say it had to come from a romantic subplot. But still, she sits at an extreme. Where can you go without diminishing that extreme? Just like those at rock bottom can only climb back up, those at the top of the mountain can only start back down. Also, number one, where did revenge ever enter the picture? She wiped out the Space Pirates because they were a major enemy force for the Galactic Federation. Revenge had nothing to do with it. The fact that they were attacking and killing people have everything to do with it. Number two, you make the mistake of using the future tense. She already wiped out the Space Pirates. Their planet exploded. Their leaders are dead. They're gone.

I am now considering the sheer amount of alien DNA coursing through her veins right now. If she ever ends up with a man, I predict that she will be injecting her eggs into his brain. Hows that for a romantic outing? |

Metroid Prime 2 showed she had morals without diminishing her toughness. I think they just tried too hard to give her a personality in Fusion. |

Considering metroids are creatures that latch themselves onto their prey and drain the life force out of them, she could actually be something of a succubus now. >.> But that would SEVERELY diminish her character. |
