So... what? Your saying you don't see Nintendo having problems yet, but your FORECASTING them? I don't put much stock in weather reports.

Weather is one thing; business is another. By paying attention to past sales, profits, and conditions, you can apply them to future events and actually get fairly accurate predictions. There will always be the element of choas, meaning error can occur, but that does not mean they are completely useless.
There used to be an image here telling you to vote, but then Photobucket, the image site made to allow you to do third party hosting, no longer allows third party hosting without throwing a shitload of money at them... and I can barely afford to eat. So no you get some text of me bitching about it, yaaay! Also, go vote.
Everyday I'm tumbl'n.

So... what? Your saying you don't see Nintendo having problems yet, but your FORECASTING them? I don't put much stock in weather reports.

They have a different buisness plan that's a bit more unstable. They are processing less money overall, they are selling less overall, so they are NOT the #1 company by a longshot. Last I checked, Nintendo was trailing dead last in sales.

And we're ALL making weather reports. NONE OF US know what will happen. Tomarrow, a meteor could strike the primary factory for DS production, and that would put a real crimp in Nintendo's sales. Do we know it will happen? No, because it's in the future! All we can look at is all the data NOW, and do our best to put together facts in the hopes of predicting what will happen in the future.

While that's true, it needs to be pointed out that Nintendo, unlike Microsoft at least, still makes a *profit* on their sales.

It's a well noted fact that X-Boxs, from the beginning, cost more than what MS was selling them for.

Where as Nintendo keeps its costs superlow, so they can continue to make a profit.

Also worth nothing, is that Nintendo is drifting further and further from the "Console War" as it stands. Sony and Microsoft can battle it out for "top dog", and it won't affect Nintendo nearly as much. They're targeting different audiences, simple as that.

Now that I think about it, I think I'm going to grab 360 before anything else. Why? Because it came out first. Once the point hits that I have to grab a new console in order to keep up with new games because this gen has stopped putting anything out, the 360 will have had more time to fix the bugs than any other.

Very true. But when you've got a bajillion dollars, you can sell your system at a loss and hope that future sales of games and such makes up for it. I don't think (Or I guess, I don't hope) that this system will pay off, and I hope in the long run it forces Microsoft out of the running.

And actually, that is a good argument that Nintendo is sort of bowing out of "The Big Game" but is still selling their product strong enough to keep going. They can't face off against Sony or Microsoft, but also they aren't collapsing anytime soon, and could keep selling games for a long time even with the profits they bring in. They make less, but take less to keep going, so it all balances out apparently.

And DotA is vastly overrated. I look at my folder of maps and weep at all the good stuff no one plays. Parasite, The 11th Vampire, Murder at the Mansion, Pyramid Escape (A personal favorite, because I've never, ever seen it won and I want to win one, damnit). I think SOL's RPG is my favorite map of all time. It's broken as hell (Places you can build bases that are immune to melee attack, Empires can kill Heroes by building Air Units and rushing their homes), but the way some games can play out can be awsome (I've still never played a game long enough to become a God, but I've gotten close...).

Yesterday I played a map called Genesis of Empires... it was like a completely different game altogeather. Took me about half half an hour figuring out how to play... by then I had run out of crops, which caused my people to starve, killing my wood, ore, and water harvesters and making it take forever to get to the point where I was self sustained...

I really want to play that map again but I can't host. >_<
I could play it single player but I'm fairly certain the computer can't figure it out.

Fun fact: The computer AI can play "Poke the Ogre." ... Don't judge me its fun.

Umm how the hell does having more info = better and longer games? In fact, all it equals is potientially better graphics and more capability which designers probably won't use considering most developers don't use the space they already have, especialyl considering how much of a pain in the ass the thing is suppose to be when developing on.

Also how is Nintendo hurting? They're #1 in profits, they have better third partie relations then ever before and have had nothing but positive reviews of their controller. Also the disc are bigger and the graphics will defintely be better (sure not near PS3 and Xbox 360 but enough to do with what you got

Xbox 360, give it time especially near when Kotor comes.

The potential is there. At first new developers are always shy about new tech. The first PS2, Gamecube, and X-Box games are no where near what their modern cousins are up to, because it took time for developers to start pushing the limits of the tech. And the development issues are in creating the discs (Which will require some factory changes) But once the changes are made, it'll be as easy as anything else. I'll admit, even with it being adopted by Sony for the PS3, the future of the Blu-Ray is not set (The new DVD system that holds about 50% of the space (Still more then current DVDs) is going to hit probably a full year before Blu-Ray is perfected, it could control the market by the time Blu-Ray finally starts hitting stands). However, there is enough potential behind it that I'd still place my bet with Sony and the PS3.

And #1 in profits? Are you on crack? Do a quick search. All you see across the board are reports of Nintendo in a profits slump, profits down, even post DS. The Gamecube and the GBA SP have been dragging the system through the mud, and the DS has turned a fiery tail-spin into a unsteady, but salvageable, flight plan to keep it going a bit longer. Considering Nintendo's poor luck with the 64 and the Gamecube, I don't see the Revolution pulling it's ass out of the fire. I still don't think it's going to crash and burn yet, but the more I learn, the less good it looks for Nintendo.

You still didn't explain why Blu Ray would make the games have better gameplay.

Also your comment here and other places tells me you have little idea of what you're talking about with this subject. Profits may be down but Nintendo is still making profit, that's better then making NO profit like Microsoft and Sony who continue to lose money even before the end of this generation. Also how poor the N64 and Gamecube did? The N64 sold over 30 million units, the Gamecube is only 2 million worldwide behind Xbox (if that is "trailing in last place" then PSP must be doomed)

Also Nintendo has only shown that they are creating interest, where as Sony and Microsoft are creating disinterest. Every developer who has had interaction with the Rev has said nothing but good things the same defintely cannot be said about the 360 and PS3 where one has gotten to a bad start already (but they didn't have much choice) and the other has continued reports of troubled developement). I can't see how the DS with how popular it is is an "unsteady" flight plan, and if anything only shows Nintendo has the right idea right now. It's true that Nintendo doesn't have as many sales and pure dollars as it's competitors but it makes more profit and truth is when you combine the entire Nintendo videogame empire, with Sony's and Microsoft's Nintendo is #1, am I saying that Nintendo can't screw things up? No, but the evidence has shown that Nintendo's current philosophy is a steady and profitable and that right now they are in a better situation to take a bigger part of the market then since the NES days in fact people believe the Rev is going to CREATE audiences in the industry, so to say Nintendo's ass in the fire and they're doing horrible is just plain ignorance.

Nintendo is far from dead, I know 3 co-workers that are going for Rev over PS3 or 360 as it stands now, I know two people that are going to 360, not to say that its not popular but mostly among sports games players, all things considered I think that Microsoft will eventualy drop out of the race after the next generation* because they pander to sports and FPS players almost exclusively and their backwards compatibility sucks balls. I see nintendo coming back to 1# if they get the revolution right, it can be done very easily by not forcing 90% of the games for to use the motion sensors.

*they really need to start coming out with better terms for this shit every generation is the next generation and its annoying as hell, in all honesty i am going to start calling the next generation, generation suck at this rate.

>.> I like Morrowind more than Daggerfall, but I do miss the random quest generation and the insanely huge world.

<.< Ninja Gaiden: Black. Hard Mode. Between the mech armor soldiers, the enhanced combat AI, the new, more powerful demons, and every boss having minions to fight alongside it...holy crap, it's hard.

Wouldn't minions make the bosses easier? Because you could suck up those colored balls of light and unleash a very strong attack...

Unlimited respawning minions makes no boss fight easier. You could suck up and unleash, if you had the time to do that. With the boss lashing at you and the respawning minions dancing all over you and taking jabs at every chance they get, the charge attack is suicide.

That doesn't sound fun...

And wait, Morrowind didn't have a big enough world for you? O_o

It could eventually SEEM small if you started to exploit it, but it was pretty darn big... and Oblivion will be larger, if I recall correctly...
